1 min read

MSIL has introduced the fourth generation Swift in India with prices starting at Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom) available in a total of five variants. The Swift had already gone on sale in other markets such as Japan. We will now look at all the differences between the two.

Exterior:

Both are almost identical except for a handful of cosmetic changes such as a different rear bumper, the alloy wheel design, the grille accents and a higher ground clearance for the Indian version. Key highlights include LED projector headlamps, boomerang-patterned daytime driving lights, C-shaped taillamps, a large octagonal-shaped grille and a shoulder line running across the car that are common traits between both the models.

Interior:

While the interior layout of both is same, the global-spec gets dual-tone colour theme whereas the India-spec gets an all-black cabin with silver inserts. Common features include nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, analogue instrument cluster with a 4.2″ MID, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, USB Type-C and Type-A ports, a wireless charging pad, cruise control, hill hold assist, connected car tech, six airbags and Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

Features:

However, the global-spec gets more features over the Indian-spec model in the form of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive high beam assist, blind spot monitoring system, driver monitoring system and also 360-degree cameras, electronic parking brake with auto hold to name a few.

Engine:

The new Swift introduces a new engine: 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated ‘Z12E’ petrol unit that makes 82 HP @ 5,700 rpm and 112 N-m of torque @ 4,300 rpm. Here the motor comes mated to either a five-speed manual or an AMT while the global model gets a CVT transmission but more importantly a mild-hybrid system too.
