The BMW 5 Series LWB

The main highlight is the all new BMW 5 Series, which is making its Indian debut in long wheelbase format. Its wheelbase is extended 110mm more as compared to the standard model, which tranlate to better space for rear seat passengers and it is longer than even its direct rival, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB. Buyers can choose between either the 18 inch ten spoke or a set of 19 inch fourteen spoke rims, both equipped with standard profile tyres.

Design

One of the biggest talking points about the new BMW 5 Series is its redesigned exterior which is characterised by an enlarged and illuminated kidney grille that is already a subject of controversy abroad in the markets where it is sold currently. The outside silhouette has been sharpened with angular headlights and a more pronounced front bumper. It will be available in a singular 530Li M Sport variant as of now.

Cabin Experience

Inside, two large screens dominate the dashboard as is the norm nowadays for most luxury vehicles, where one serves its purpose as the infotainment screen and the other does duty as the drivers’ display. Additional features include ambient lighting, a heads-up display, 18 speaker Bowers and Wilkins Surround sound system, USB type-C charging ports and four zone climate control system. Also, eco-friendly materials have been used for the seat upholstery, steering wheel and door pads.

Under The Hood

It gets a 2-litre turbo petrol engine complemented by a 48 Volt mild hybrid system, which produce a combined output of 208 HP, 330 N-m of torque; paired to an eight speed torque converter automatic transmission and it can do the 0 to 100 km/h run in a claimed 6.5 seconds.

It has been priced at ₹72.9 Lakh (ex-showroom).

Mini Cooper S

Exterior

The Cooper S has also received a comprehensive update but no changes have been done to the underpinnings. It retains the circular LED headlamps and the grille has a more hexagonal design now with a thick bar running across the width, while at the rear it retains the familiar triangular-ish Union Jack inspired tail lights. As for wheels, it gets 18-inch alloys. It is available in five dual-tone colours: Ocean Wave Green and Blazing Blue come with a white roof; while the Sunny Side Yellow, British Racing Green and Chilli Red II get a Black roof.

Interior

On the inside, a standout feature is the new circular 9.4 inch OLED infotainment screen, which also serves as the instrument console and dominates the dashboard. A heads-up display is also on offer and the familiar toggle switches for various controls are retained, along with the ambient lighting. It also has features like a fisheye in car camera, driving modes, connected car tech, digital key, power adjustable seats and also ADAS with 12 cameras all around the car.

Engine And Transmission

A 2-litre turbo petrol engine powers the front wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and delivers 201 HP, 300 N-m of torque; an increase of 25 HP and 20 N-m from the old model. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 6.6 seconds, which is slightly faster than before. It has been launched at ₹44.9 Lakh (ex-showroom).

Mini Countryman SE All4

The first ever electric countryman for India has a boxy design, reminiscent of the previous generations of the SUV. The front has square-ish headlamps, LED DRLs, an octagonal grille and gold accents all around the vehicle. The black pillars lend it a floating roof design and as for the back, it has a redesigned tailgate and vertical taillamps with new lighting signature. Notably, it shares its platform with the BMW iX1.

Powertrain

It arrives in a single all wheel drive (AWD) variant powered by a dual motor setup that puts out 309 HP, 494 N-m of torque and it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 8.6 seconds.

A 66.45 kWh battery pack is on offer with a claimed range of 433 km. Mini claims that it can be fully charged in 6 hours and 30 minutes with an 11 kW AC charger and can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in around half an hour with a 130 kW DC fast charger.

On The Inside

It gets a circular 9.4 inch OLED infotainment touchscreen, which is the only display in the car. It also comes equipped with level 2 ADAS, hill hold assist, connected car tech, digital key plus, a fisheye in car camera, a heads-up display, drive modes, electrically adjustable front seats with massage function and the cabin is made up of new eco-friendly materials.
