1 min read

Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to launch the AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe, a performance-oriented luxury coupe that aims to combine the agility of the C-Class with the comfort of the E-Class. The CLE range replaces the outgoing C-Class and E-Class coupes, consolidating Mercedes two-door lineup into a single, dynamic offering.

Powertrain

At the heart of the AMG CLE 53 lies a 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric auxiliary compressor and a 48V mild-hybrid system. This setup produces approximately 449 HP and 560 NM of torque, with an additional electric boost available for short bursts of power. The engine is paired with the AMG Speedshift TCT 9-speed automatic transmission and the fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. Expect a 0–100 KM/H time of around 4.2 seconds, positioning the CLE 53 firmly in the high-performance coupe segment.

Dynamics

The CLE 53 will feature an AMG Ride Control suspension with adaptive dampers, offering multiple drive modes from comfort to sport. Active roll stabilisation and rear-axle steering are likely to be available, enhancing cornering precision and stability. These features aim to provide a blend of everyday usability and track-ready performance.

Exterior

The coupe adopts Mercedes latest design philosophy, characterised by sleek proportions and aggressive AMG styling. Expect a prominent Panamericana grille, large air intakes, aerodynamic side skirts, and quad exhaust tips at the rear. Optional packages may include a carbon fibre exterior kit and larger 20-inch alloy wheels. LED headlights and taillights will come standard, ensuring a distinctive presence on the road.

Interior

Inside, the CLE 53 combines sporty flair with some luxury. The cabin will likely feature AMG performance seats, Nappa leather upholstery, and AMG-specific steering wheels with drive mode selectors. The MBUX infotainment system will dominate the dashboard, offering a portrait-oriented touchscreen, customizable digital driver display, and augmented reality navigation. Features such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice command via ‘Hey Mercedes’ and an optional Burmaster sound system add to the tech suite.

Safety

Expect a full suite of driver-assist systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, active brake assist, and 360-degree cameras. Mercedes Pre-Safe technology will likely be standard, enhancing occupant protection in emergencies.

Market Position

The AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe will compete against BMW M440i xDrive and Audi S5 Sportback. While pricing has not been confirmed, the model is expected to command a premium due to its AMG tuning, likely starting above ₹1 crore in the Indian market.
