Volvo has launched the updated version of its flagship SUV in India. The SUV now costs 1.03Cr, making it marginally expensive than the model that it replaces.
The SUV has subtle design changes to enhance its appeal. The front fascia has been redesigned, taking cues from the Volvo EX90. The front grill is now sleeker, with the signature slim “Thor” hammer headlights. The SUV also has a redesigned front bumper. Despite all of these updates, the overall silhouette of the SUV remains the same. The 20 inch alloy wheels also get a new design. The rear remains more or less the same, with the tail lights receiving a smoky design element. The car is available in 6 color options, i.e, Onyx Black, Crystal White, Denim Blue, Vapor Grey, Bright Dusk, and a new Mulberry Red colour shade.
The SUV now gets a larger 11.2 inch touchscreen, which occupies most of the space on the dashboard. The steering wheel design is slightly tweaked with new gloss black accents on the lower spoke. The lower section of the center console has also been slightly altered to liberate more space. In terms of features, the infotainment screen now gets over-the-air updates via a Google-based software. The top features a The top features include a 12.3-inch driver’s display, PM 2.5 air filter, a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, a panoramic sunroof, powered seats with ventilation and massage functions, a wireless phone charger, a coloured heads-up display (HUD) and a four-zone climate control with AC vents for 2nd and 3rd row passengers as well. Volvo is known very well for its safety, and that remains strong as is, with safety features such as hill start and hill descent control, disc brakes on all wheels, electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, front, side and rear parking sensors, auto park assist and a level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite. All Volvo cars are limited to a top speed of 180KMPH.
The XC90 is powered by a 2 litre turbo petrol motor with mild hybrid tech. The engine produces 250PS and 360NM. The engine is paired to an 8 speed automatic gearbox, and power is sent to all 4 wheels.
The XC90 is priced at 1.03Cr, and rivals other flagship SUV’s such as the Mercedes Benz GLE, Audi Q7, and the BMW X5. Volvos have always had a different charm to them, making potential owners sway in favor of the car.
