Volvo has revealed the updated international-spec XC60 and XC90 SUVs with subtle design changes, updated infotainment and upgraded plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. Both SUVs now get a much larger 41.2 KWH battery, significantly increasing their claimed electric-only range.
However, Volvo does not currently offer the PHEV versions of either SUV in India.
XC60 & XC90 PHEV Get Larger Batteries

Both SUVs replace their previous 19 KWH battery packs with a new 41.2 KWH unit. The XC60 PHEV now offers up to 200 KM of WLTP-claimed electric range, an increase of 121 KM.
Its updated AWD powertrain combines the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with rear-mounted electric motors to produce 461 HP and 759 NM. As a result, the SUV can accelerate from 0–100 KM/H in 4.8 seconds.
The XC90 PHEV also produces 461 HP, although its combined torque output stands at 751 NM. Its electric range increases from 66 KM to 162 KM, while its 0–100 KM/H time drops to 5.2 seconds.
Mild-Hybrid Powertrains Continue
The mild-hybrid versions continue with the existing 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and 48V electrical system. It produces 250 HP and 360 NM.
This is also the powertrain currently offered with the India-spec XC60 and XC90. Therefore, the facelift does not bring a mechanical change to the mild-hybrid versions at this stage.
XC60 Gets Exterior Design Changes

The XC60 receives the more substantial exterior update of the two SUVs. It gets redesigned T-shaped Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs, a revised grille and a new front bumper with updated air intakes.
Additionally, new alloy-wheel designs are available in sizes ranging from 18 to 22 inches. At the rear, the SUV gets redesigned tail-lights with a cleaner appearance, while the rear bumper now features simpler surfacing.
Updated Infotainment & ADAS

Inside, the XC60 gets a revised dashboard featuring an integrated 11.2-INCH infotainment screen. The system runs Volvo’s newer Car UX software, while redesigned central AC vents help the display blend more naturally into the dashboard.
The SUV also receives upgraded radar, cameras and sensors for its ADAS systems. Meanwhile, the seats and upholstery remain unchanged.
The XC90 also gets the new Car UX software for its 11.2-INCH infotainment system. Apart from this update, its exterior and interior remain largely unchanged.
India Launch & Availability
Volvo currently does not sell the PHEV versions of the XC60 or XC90 in India. However, the exterior, infotainment and functional updates introduced internationally could eventually make their way to the India-spec models.
If launched in India, the facelifted versions could command a premium over the current SUVs.
Prices In India
The current India-spec Volvo XC60 is priced at Rs 70.90 lakh, while the XC90 costs Rs 98.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
| Model | Current India Price |
|---|---|
| Volvo XC60 | Rs 70.90 lakh |
| Volvo XC90 | Rs 98.80 lakh |
Verdict
The latest updates primarily focus on electrification, infotainment and subtle design changes. The XC60 receives the more noticeable visual revision, while both SUVs benefit from the larger PHEV battery and improved electric range. However, Volvo has not yet confirmed whether or when these updates will reach India.
