Recently spotted testing on Indian roads, the EX30 is Volvo’s smallest offering yet. It will likely be launched later this year.
Design & Dimensions

The EX30 carries Volvo’s Scandinavian minimalism, evident from spy shots showing the iconic “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlights. Measuring 4233 MM in length, 1837 MM in width, and 1549 MM in height with a 2650 MM wheelbase, it’s notably smaller than rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
Powertrain & Performance

Globally, the EX30 offers multiple powertrain options, with India likely to get the 69 KWH battery variant first. The single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup produces 272 BHP and 343 NM of torque, hitting 0-100 KM/H in 5.3 seconds with a WLTP range of up to 476 KM. The twin-motor all-wheel-drive version ramps up to 428 BHP and 543 NM, slashing the sprint to 3.6 seconds, though range dips slightly to 460 KM. Top speed is capped at 180 KM/H.
The EX30 supports up to 153 KW DC fast charging, achieving 10-80% in roughly 26 minutes under optimal conditions, while an 11 KW AC charger takes about 8 hours for a full charge.
Interior & Tech

Inside, the EX30 opts for simplicity with a 12.3-inch vertical touchscreen running a Google-based infotainment system. Sustainable materials like recycled plastics shape the cabin, though the minimalist layout with few physical buttons might feel sparse. The rear is not as spacious as rivals and feels cramped.
Safety

Volvo has equipped the EX30 with a good safety suite, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot assist, and a cyclist-protecting door-opening alert. It earned a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Verdict
Against competitors, the EX30 shines with raw performance but trails in space and range. The Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, BYD Seal and Tesla Model Y are going to offer fierce competition. Volvo will likely price it at a premium, expected to be above Rs 50 Lakh.
