Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line Launching In India

1 min read

Volkswagen India has announced the upcoming launch of the Tiguan R-Line in India during the second quarter of 2025. The launch will be alongside the Golf GTI and both models will be brought to India via the completely built-up unit (CBU) route.

Design

The new Tiguan R-Line distinguishes itself from the standard model with a more aggressive design. It features restyled front and rear bumpers, distinctive quarter panels, and a new grille with an “R” insert. Connected LED light bars at the front and rear give it a fresh, modern look, along with larger 19-inch alloy wheels that come as standard. The grille is cleaner and more subtle, with sharper and sleeker LED headlights.

Interior

Inside, the R-Line boasts a driver-focused dashboard, a digital driver’s display, and a large 12.9-inch infotainment screen with Volkswagen’s latest user interface. The instrument cluster is a fully digital, configurable LCD display, featuring Volkswagen’s Active Info Display ‘Pro’ software – similar to Audi’s Virtual Cockpit. It also comes with a 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The cabin retains physical controls for essential functions, moving away from haptic controls on the steering wheel and going back to actual physical buttons.

Powertrain & Performance

Mechanically, no changes are expected to the India-spec Tiguan R-Line. It’ll continue the 2.0L turbo-petrol paired to a 7-speed DSG transmission with VW’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, with the same 190 BHP & 320 Nm of torque. Globally, the vehicle can get upto 265 BHP & 370 Nm of torque, the same as the Audi A6 & Audi Q5.

Launch & Pricing

The Tiguan R-Line is expected to be priced at Rs. 55 Lakhs (ex showroom), with a launch in July 2025.

Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Volkswagen India, believes these models are aspirational and will excite customers and fans, strengthening the brand’s presence in India.
