Volkswagen has announced a Rs 3 Lakh discount on the Tiguan R-Line in India, just three months after its launch. The fully imported five-seater crossover, which was introduced in April 2025 at Rs 48.99 Lakh (ex-showroom), is now available at a price of ₹45.99 lakh. This is Volkswagen’s flagship offering in the Indian market, positioned above the locally assembled Tiguan that was previously sold here.
Powertrain, Platform, & Performance

The Tiguan R-Line is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder, TSI turbo-petrol engine. It produces 204 BHP and 320 NM of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG), sending power to all four wheels via Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.

Volkswagen claims a 0–100 KM/H time of 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 229 KM/H. The vehicle is built on the MQB EVO architecture. It comes with DCC Pro (Dynamic Chassis Control) and a vehicle dynamics manager that regulates individual wheel damping. These are features that were removed on the recently launched Skoda Kodiaq update.
Interior, Features, & Infotainment

Inside, the Tiguan R-Line offers three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, powered seats with memory, wireless charging for two devices, a heads-up display, and a cooled glovebox. Ambient lighting with 30 selectable colours is also included.

A 10.3-inch digital cockpit and a 12.9-inch infotainment system come as standard. R-Line interior trim includes stainless steel pedals, gloss black dashboard accents, and contrast stitching.
Safety & Driver Assistance

The Tiguan R-Line is equipped with nine airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring, hill start and descent control, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. It holds a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

It gets 21 Level 2 ADAS functions such as lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blind spot monitoring, rear traffic alert, emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, and Park Assist Plus with memory function. The system supports autonomous parking at speeds up to 40 KM/H.
Pricing & Market Position

The R-Line variant was launched in April 2025 at Rs 48.99 Lakh (ex-showroom). The Rs 3 Lakh discount introduced in July 2025 reduces the current price to Rs 45.99 Lakh. This model is imported as a CBU under the 2,500-unit quota allowed without homologation. It is currently sold in six colours: Persimmon Red, Cipressino Green, Nightshade Blue, Oryx White, Grenadilla Black, and Oyster Silver. The vehicle does not offer diesel or hybrid options in India.
