Design & Dimensions

The VF7 is designed as a larger sibling to the VF6, carrying forward VinFast’s sculpted surfaces, coupe-like roofline, and signature V-shaped lighting. Measuring 4.545 MM in length, 1.890 MM in width, and 1.635 MM in height, it sits in the mid-size SUV category. The 2.840 MM wheelbase provides more cabin space compared to the smaller VF6. The VF7 also offers a spacious 537-litre boot, adding to its practicality. On the exterior, buyers can choose from single-tone and dual-tone body finishes, along with 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

Battery, Range & Performance

Unlike the VF6, the VF7 is offered in both single-motor and dual-motor configurations. The entry-level Earth variant uses a single front-mounted motor producing 204 HP and 310 NM of torque. Sky trim onwards, however, a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with 350 HP and 500 NM is offered. As a result, the AWD variant accelerates from 0 to 100 KM/H in 5.8 seconds. Apart from the entry-level model, which gets a 59.6 KWH battery pack, all variants get a 70.8 KWH battery pack. The VinFast VF7 range on the WLTP cycle with the 70.8 kWh battery is 450 KM for FWD variants and 431 KM for AWD variants on a single charge. DC fast charging allows the battery to charge from 10 to 70 percent in about 25 minutes, while two home-charging options (3.3 KW and 7.2 KW AC) are also provided.

Features & Safety

Inside, the VF7’s dashboard is dominated by a 12.9-inch touchscreen, replacing most physical controls, and is paired with a voice-enabled digital assistant. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard, along with OTA software updates. Other features include ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and customizable ambient lighting. On the safety front, the VF7 is equipped with a radar-based Level-2 ADAS. Key systems include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot detection, forward collision warning, and a 360-degree camera. Standard safety kit also includes seven airbags, ABS, ESC, and traction control.

Market Outlook

The VF7 enters a competitive segment that includes EVs like the Mahindra BE6, Tata Harrier.ev and more. With its long feature list and warranty package of 7 years or 2,00,000 KM (10 years for the battery), the VF7 is positioned in the mid-size EV space. For VinFast, the VF7 represents not only a step up in terms of segment positioning but also a test of how Indian buyers perceive new entrants in the electric SUV market.
