Vinfast Auto, a Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has been spotted testing its VF6 electric compact SUV in India. This sighting suggests Vinfast’s potential entry into the rapidly growing Indian EV market.

Vinfast VF6: A Look At What’s Coming-

The VF6 is expected to launch in India sometime between late 2025 and early 2026. Design-wise, the front features signature V-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) resembling eyebrows, along with bumper-mounted headlights, fog lamps, and front parking sensors. The spied images also reveal an ADAS sensor on the lower part of the front bumper. The rear echoes the front with V-shaped taillights that appear to converge at the center of the boot, separated by the Vinfast logo. These V-shaped elements are a recurring design motif inspired by the Vinfast logo.

Powertrain And Performance-

While Vinfast hasn’t officially revealed technical specifications for the Indian market, the globally available base ECO variant likely to be offered in India is expected to sport a front-mounted electric motor producing 174 horsepower (hp) and 200 Nm of torque. A more powerful Plus variant with 201 hp and 250 Nm of torque exists globally, but its Indian launch is uncertain.

Vinfast’s India Plans And Launch Strategy-

Vinfast recently invested $2 billion in Tamil Nadu to establish a new manufacturing facility expected to be operational by the first half of 2025. The plant will initially produce 50,000 vehicles annually, with the potential for significant expansion. Vinfast’s India portfolio is expected to include several EV options, including the VF9, VF8, VF7, and the recently spotted VF6. While official launch timelines remain unclear, the VF6 is anticipated to arrive by late 2025 or early 2026.

Competition And Potential Pricing-

Vinfast hasn’t offered official pricing for the VF6 in India. However, based on global pricing, the VF6 is expected to fall within the ₹30 lakh – ₹35 lakh (ex-showroom) range. This price segment directly competes with established players like the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, and the BYD Atto 3.
