The Lamborghini Urus has been on Indian markets for quite a while now. It received a few updates over the years with the Urus S and Urus Performante. However, the Urus SE comes with the most drastic changes.
What’s New With The SE?
The main changes come under the hood. The traditional petrol powertrain has been ditched for a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The result of this change is a significant improvement in performance figures. the 4.0L V8, along with a 25.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, churns out almost 800 horsepower and 950 Newtonmetres of torque. it touches the 100 km/h from a standstill mark in under 3.4 seconds and flat out could touch 312 km/h. The Urus SE can go 60 kilometres on electric power alone.
The design language remains similar to the outgoing version. The Urus SE sports a sharper look thanks to updated headlights, grille and diffusers. Lamborghini has given the Urus SE new alloy wheel designs and revised colour options. The cabin gets a larger infotainment screen while the rest of the equipment list remains identical.
How Much Will The Urus SE Cost?
Expectedly, the Urus SE costs more than its predecessors. You pay a premium of almost 40L for the Urus SE over the Urus S. That is a heavy price for the hybrid powertrain, and some might prefer the old-school IC engine. Including a plug-in hybrid system has led to an increase in weight, however, the power-to-weight ratio has reduced over the regular Urus.
The outgoing Urus shared its powertrain with the Audi Q8 but was priced higher than its sibling. The Urus SE has no direct competitors in the market. This is Lamborghini’s third attempt at making a hybrid car after the Sian and Revuelto, while it is the second plug-in hybrid after the Revuelto. Moreover, Lamborghini has decided to enter the EV market as well. Recently Lamborghini’s all-electric prototype, Lanzador, made clear of their intentions to go electric.
