Recent spy shots have captured the next-gen Kia Seltos, with the compact crossover now coming with two-tone upholstery.
What’s New?
The revised interior might come with improved material quality compared to the current model. The updated cabin layout incorporates a more contemporary design language that we first saw with the Syros.
The photographed test vehicle displays a combination of light and dark elements throughout the cabin, breaking away from the monochromatic design of the outgoing model. The images reveal new front seats wrapped in grey and black upholstery with orange highlights and grey door pads. We expect the Seltos to inculcate all the interior additions that came with the Syros, including Kia’s new integrated digital infotainment cluster and ventilated seats at the rear. Sadly, the dashboard and centre console area were hidden from prying eyes.
Exterior
The SUV appears to have a more boxy, upright silhouette as well, with new dual-tone alloy wheels. The lighting setup appears to have been revised as well, with an all-new rear lighting setup and new front LEDs with a unique light signature.
Technical Updates
Kia will likely carry forward the same powertrain options as the current Seltos, keeping the vehicle mechanically the same. This includes the platform, which is shared with vehicles like the Hyundai Venue. This platform has consistently fared poorly in terms of safety, which is something we hope Kia addresses with the next-generation Seltos. A 1.6L hybrid petrol powertrain might be on the cards as well, as Kia addresses the mileage-conscious Indian consumer’s needs.
Launch & Competitors
The Seltos will compete in one of the most fierce segments of the Indian automotive market, against the segment-leader Hyundai Creta (essentially the same car) and others such as the Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate & Volkswagen Taigun.
