Volkswagen is gearing up to launch their sub-4-meter SUV. As its sibling brand Skoda has launched the Kylaq, enthusiasts expect a sub-4-meter SUV from VW too. As we have seen earlier, both German automobile giants have multiple shared cars across their lineup, like the VW Virtus, which is based on the Skoda Slavia, & the VW Taigun, which is based on the Skoda Kushaq. Now, the upcoming Tera will be based on the Skoda Kylaq. VW has been spotted testing their upcoming Tera in India across many places; last time, it was seen being tested in the snow.
The VW Tera will compete with the existing Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, and the Kia Sonet. It will be launched early next year.
Specifications
Exterior
It has a sleek single-slat grill at the front, an angular design with Volkswagen’s signature LED DRLs, connected taillamps, a bold chrome grille, ORVMs mounted on the A Pillar, & 17-inch blacked-out alloys with wheel arch cladding all around the body.
Interior
There’s no information about the interior yet, but we expect it to be the same as the Kylaq. It would come with the following features:
Ventilated and powered front seats.
Electric sunroof.
6-speakers audio system.
10-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Rear AC vents with ambient lighting.
Engine Specs
Under the hood, it will be equipped with the same 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI, which is shared with the Kylaq, Virtus, Slavia & Kushaq, paired with a 6-speed manual and an automatic with a torque converter. Power figures will be 114 BHP and 178 NM of torque.
Verdict
For buyers craving German design, driving dynamics, and safety, the Tera is tempting. Rivals offer better features & electronics, while the Tera would offer a better drivetrain and platform.
