In an official press release, Toyota Kirloskar Motor clarified the compatibility of its vehicles with E20 fuel. The company emphasized, “we continue to support the country’s progressive transition towards clean and indigenous energy options,”. The press release noted that “effective from 1st April 2023 in line with availability of E20 fuel, all gasoline vehicles are fully material compatible with E20 fuel,” providing clarity around future and current model compatibility.

What About Older Models
Toyota addressed concerns surrounding older models sold before April 1, 2023, stating that although the owner’s manual may specify compatibility with only up to E10, “this should not be interpreted that vehicles sold prior to 1st April 2023 can’t use E20 fuel. This is based on findings of tests conducted on wide range of older vehicles across industry, by government testing agencies. Hence, we understand that there is no significant impact on earlier vehicles (before 1st April 2023).”

Customer Guidance Amid Ongoing Changes
To ensure continued smooth vehicle operation, Toyota urged customers to use only authorized fuel stations, stating “avoid any spurious or adulterated fuel to prevent any inconvenience during usage.” The company concluded by saying that it focuses on providing smooth and reliable ownership experiences, and encouraged customers with model-specific concerns to reach out to authorized dealerships. This ensures proactive customer support to managing changing fuel standards while minimizing disruption to users.
