The Toyota Vellfire has crossed the 5,000-unit sales milestone in India, slightly over six years after its launch in February 2020. According to SIAM data, Toyota Kirloskar Motor recorded cumulative dispatches of 5,001 units by the end of April 2026. The luxury hybrid MPV has witnessed steady growth, particularly after the arrival of the second-generation model in 2023.

Sales Growth & Market Demand

Toyota recorded its highest-ever annual Vellfire sales performance in FY2026 with 1,483 units dispatched. This marks a 56 percent increase compared to FY2025, when the company sold 1,155 units.

Notably, more than half of the Vellfire’s total sales in India came during the last 25 months alone. The strong growth reflects increasing demand for premium chauffeur-driven vehicles and luxury MPVs in the Indian market.

Second-Generation Model Boosts Demand

The second-generation Toyota Vellfire launched in India during August 2023 and significantly improved demand for the MPV. Annual sales remained below 1,000 units between FY2020 and FY2024 before rising sharply after the updated model arrived.

In April 2026 alone, Toyota sold 118 units of the Vellfire compared to just 20 units during the same month last year.

Hybrid Powertrain & Performance

The Toyota Vellfire uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder strong-hybrid petrol engine paired with an e-CVT automatic gearbox. The hybrid setup produces 193 HP and 240 NM while prioritising refinement and fuel efficiency.

Toyota claims a fuel efficiency figure of 19.28 KM/L for the luxury MPV. The Vellfire also shares its platform and core underpinnings with the Lexus LM.

Dimensions & Interior Features

The Vellfire measures 5,005 MM in length and comes with a 3,000 MM wheelbase, allowing a spacious cabin focused on rear-seat comfort. Inside, the MPV offers powered Ottoman second-row seats, roof-mounted passenger controls, wireless charging, and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Higher variants additionally receive Executive Lounge captain seats for the second row, targeting chauffeur-driven luxury buyers.

Safety & Technology Features

Toyota has equipped the Vellfire with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and a radar-based ADAS suite. The safety package includes several advanced driver assistance functions designed for highway and urban driving support.

The MPV also receives a head-up display and multiple connected convenience features for rear passengers.

Prices In India

The Toyota Vellfire is currently priced between ₹1.20 crore and ₹1.30 crore ex-showroom in India. The MPV is available in multiple luxury-focused variants targeting buyers seeking premium chauffeur-driven transportation.

At this price point, the Vellfire competes primarily with the Mercedes-Benz V-Class in the Indian market.

India Relevance & Luxury MPV Segment

Demand for luxury MPVs has steadily increased in India over the past few years, especially among business owners, celebrities, and buyers preferring chauffeur-driven vehicles. The Toyota Vellfire has benefited from this trend due to its hybrid powertrain, spacious second-row seating, and premium feature list.

The segment has also gained popularity because several buyers now prefer luxury MPVs over traditional premium sedans and SUVs for long-distance comfort.

Conclusion

The Toyota Vellfire reaching the 5,000-unit sales milestone highlights the growing acceptance of premium luxury MPVs in India. Strong demand for the second-generation model, combined with hybrid technology and chauffeur-focused comfort, has helped Toyota strengthen its presence in the ultra-premium people-mover segment.
