Toyota has officially launched the ninth-generation Hilux in India at a starting price of Rs 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new lifestyle pickup gets a completely redesigned exterior, a refreshed cabin, and several new features. However, it continues to use the proven IMV body-on-frame platform along with the reliable 2.8-litre diesel engine. Bookings are now open across India, while deliveries will begin in the second week of August.
New Design Looks More Rugged & Premium
The 2026 Toyota Hilux gets a bold new front-end with slim LED headlamps, LED DRLs, and a large honeycomb-pattern grille. Toyota has also replaced the traditional logo with prominent ‘TOYOTA’ lettering across the grille, giving the pickup a more commanding road presence.
The bumper features larger air intakes, LED fog lamps, and a silver skid plate. Meanwhile, the side profile adds black wheel arch cladding, 17-inch alloy wheels, roll bars, side steps, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a shark-fin antenna.
At the rear, the Hilux receives new C-shaped LED tail-lamps, bold TOYOTA lettering across the tailgate, and a redesigned bumper with an integrated step for easier access to the cargo bed.
Cabin Gets More Technology
Inside, Toyota has redesigned the dashboard with a cleaner layout. The pickup now features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system alongside a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. A new three-spoke steering wheel and improved cabin materials further modernize the interior.
The Hilux also retains plenty of physical buttons, making frequently used controls easier to operate during both daily driving and off-road adventures.

Engine & Off-Road Capability
The new Hilux continues with Toyota’s proven 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 204 HP and 500 NM. It is now paired exclusively with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox, as Toyota has discontinued the manual transmission.
Toyota has also introduced a new 4×2 automatic variant alongside the existing 4×4 models. The 4×4 variants continue to offer a low-range transfer case, electronic differential lock, multiple terrain modes, traction control, downhill assist control, and an automatic limited-slip differential for improved off-road performance.
Unlike the Fortuner, the Hilux does not receive Toyota’s 48V Neo Drive mild-hybrid system.
