Hyundai Creta & Tata Nexon Lead The Pack

Hyundai Creta was the highest selling SUV in August, recording 15,924 units. The SUV continues to appeal to a broad audience with its multiple engine options, electric powertrain and feature-rich trims. Its steady sales performance reflects its strong demand across regions. Tata Nexon followed closely with 14,004 units, offering a wide variety of powertrain choices, including electric and petrol-diesel models. The Nexon’s nearly 10 percent month-on-month rise shows its strong appeal across both ICE and EV buyers.
Maruti Brezza & Maruti Fronx See Minor Declines

Maruti Suzuki has two of its products making it to the top five. The Brezza’s sales slipped slightly to 13,620 units, down from 14,065 in July. Despite the decline, it remained a strong contender for the top three due to its reach in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The Fronx also recorded a dip, selling 12,422 units compared to 12,872 a month earlier. Its drop suggests that competition in the compact crossover segment is intensifying, especially as new models continue to enter the market.
Tata Punch & Mahindra Scorpio Show Different Stories

The standout performer in August was the Tata Punch, which saw sales jump nearly 18% to 12,704 units. Its compact dimensions and SUV-inspired styling continue to attract first-time buyers. In contrast, Mahindra Scorpio experienced a fall, dropping to 9,840 units from 13,747 in July. This includes both the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic, highlighting the Scorpio nameplate. The decline of over 28% is notable, especially as the Scorpio has been a consistent performer in recent months.
Toyota Hyryder & Hyundai Venue Deliver Steady Gains

Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder inched upward to 9,100 units, a modest 3.24% rise over July. The hybrid SUV continues to appeal to customers seeking better fuel efficiency in city driving conditions. Hyundai Venue also managed slight growth, climbing to 8,109 units in August. While the gain was less than one percent, the Venue’s presence in the top 10 shows its continued relevance in the sub-compact SUV segment.
Kia Sonet Improves, Mahindra Thar Slips Back

Kia Sonet closed August with 7,741 units, marking a 1.5 percent rise over July. Its wide range of variants and engine-gearbox combinations gives it an edge in the sub-4-metre SUV segment. Mahindra Thar, however, faced one of the steepest declines, dropping almost 29 percent to 6,997 units. This includes both the Thar 3-door and the bigger Thar Roxx. Its drop could be due to sensitivity to production cycles and changing buyer priorities in the lifestyle SUV category.
