Mahindra’s ‘Batman’ saga has taken an unexpected turn. Following heavy criticism for launching a second batch of 999 units on March 6, the automaker is now offering a 30-day window for original owners to sell their cars back to the company. For many who bought the August 2025 ‘Founding Chapter’ models, the second lot felt like a breach of the ‘limited edition’ contract, and Mahindra is now footing the bill to make it right. Owners need to contact the dealership for the same.
What’s All The Fuss About ?
“Mahindra initially capped the BE 6 Batman Edition at just 999 units for the entire country, a move that saw the entire lot vanish within 135 seconds of bookings opening. However, that hard-earned exclusivity took a hit just seven months later. With the surprise arrival of a second 999-unit batch, the very ‘limited-run’ USP that drove fans to pounce on the first lot faced immediate dilution.

The ‘strictly limited’ promise didn’t even last a year. On March 6, 2026, Mahindra blindsided original owners by dropping a second 999-unit batch of the BE 6 Batman Edition. Despite a ₹70,000 price hike over the initial launch, the new lot vanished in just seven minutes. For the ‘Founding’ owners who pounced on the first batch thinking they had a 1-of-999 collector’s item, this move effectively halved the car’s exclusivity overnight, sparking a wave of online backlash that has now forced Mahindra into an expensive buyback program.
While it gets various Batman-related decals, badges and other exclusive styling details, the Batman Edition is based on the Pack Three variant of the BE 6. This means it comes with a 79kWh battery pack with an ARAI-claimed range of 682km, powering a rear axle-mounted electric motor capable of delivering 286hp and 380Nm of torque. Similarly, charging options come in the form of a 7.2kW or an 11kW AC charger, both of which cost over and above the car’s ex-showroom price of Rs 28.49 lakh.
