Tesla Model Y has received a new entry-level Premium Rear-Wheel Drive variant in India, priced at Rs 50.89 lakh, ex-showroom. The new variant sits below the six-seat L Premium AWD version and lowers the entry price of the Model Y range by Rs 11.1 lakh. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in July 2026.
Tesla has also discontinued the Long Range Premium RWD variant, which was previously priced at Rs 67.89 lakh. The Model Y line-up in India now includes only two variants: the Premium RWD and the L Premium AWD.
2026 Tesla Model Y Premium RWD Battery, Range & Performance
The India-spec Model Y Premium RWD is expected to use a 64 kWh battery pack paired with a rear-mounted electric motor producing around 299 HP, similar to international versions.
Tesla claims a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 500 KM for the rear-wheel-drive variant. The electric SUV can sprint from 0-100 KM/H in a claimed 5.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 201 KM/H.
The EV supports DC fast charging speeds of up to 175 kW through Tesla Superchargers. According to Tesla, the battery can recover up to 238 KM of range in just 15 minutes of charging.

The exterior design remains identical to the recently updated global Model Y. It gets a smooth aerodynamic silhouette with flush door handles, connected LED lighting elements and Tesla’s minimalist styling philosophy.
The sloping roofline and clean body surfaces continue to define the SUV’s coupe-inspired look. Tesla also offers large alloy wheels and a full-width rear light signature that enhances the EV’s futuristic appearance.

Inside, the new entry-level variant now gets Tesla’s updated 16-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, which debuted in India with the Model Y L variant. Rear passengers also get an 8.0-inch touchscreen for entertainment and climate controls.
The cabin is offered in either an all-black or Zen Grey theme. Tesla claims a maximum cargo capacity of 2,138 litres with the rear seats folded down.
Other features include ventilated front seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting, acoustic glass, a panoramic glass roof, a powered tailgate, and electrically reclining rear seats. Like other Tesla models, almost every vehicle function is controlled through the central touchscreen.

The Model Y Premium RWD comes equipped with Tesla’s ADAS suite, surround-view cameras and 7 airbags.
Tesla also offers the optional Full Self-Driving (FSD) package at an additional cost of Rs 6 lakh. However, due to pending regulatory approvals in India, the feature currently supports only automatic parking functionality.
