Tata Gives Tiago & Tiago EV A Major Exterior Redesign
Tata Motors has officially revealed the updated Tiago and Tiago EV ahead of their launch on May 28, 2026. Both hatchbacks receive a heavily revised exterior design that gives them a bolder and more modern appearance. Tata has redesigned the front and rear sections extensively while also introducing fresh alloy wheel designs and updated lighting elements.
The facelifted Tiago lineup follows Tata’s latest design language seen on newer models such as the Altroz and Punch EV. While the outside receives substantial visual changes, the cabins of both hatchbacks are expected to receive only minor revisions compared to the outgoing versions.
Front Design Gets Sharper Styling Elements
The facelifted Tiago and Tiago EV feature newly designed headlights with eyebrow-style LED daytime running lamps. The petrol-powered Tiago gets a blacked-out grille similar to the Altroz, while the electric version receives a body-coloured blanked-off grille to visually differentiate it from the ICE model.
The front bumper design has also been revised completely. The standard Tiago now gets pixel-style fog lamps integrated into the bumper, whereas the EV version skips the fog lamps for a cleaner appearance. Overall, the updated front fascia appears more aggressive and premium than the current Tiago lineup.
Rear Design & Alloy Wheels Also Updated

Along the sides, Tata has introduced newly designed alloy wheels, although wheel size is expected to remain unchanged at 15 inches. Both hatchbacks now feature black wheel arch cladding similar to the rugged Tiago NRG variant, adding a slightly crossover-inspired appearance.
At the rear, Tata has redesigned the taillights with vertically stacked LED lighting elements connected by a chunky trim bar. The updated rear bumper design further modernises the hatchbacks and aligns them visually with newer Tata models currently sold in India.
Cabin Expected To Receive More Technology
Inside, the updated Tiago and Tiago EV are expected to retain the redesigned dashboard introduced with the MY2025 update. This includes the new illuminated Tata steering wheel and the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system already available in current versions.
However, Tata is likely to introduce a more modern instrument cluster to replace the older-looking unit currently offered. The reveal also confirms the addition of a 360-degree camera system, visible through camera pods mounted on the front bumper and ORVMs. Other features are expected to include automatic climate control, cruise control, automatic wipers, TPMS and a cooled glovebox.
Six Airbags Could Become Standard
Safety upgrades are expected to play an important role in the facelifted Tiago range. While the current model offers dual airbags, Tata could equip both the Tiago and Tiago EV with 6 airbags as standard across variants. This would significantly improve the hatchbacks’ safety package and help them remain competitive in the segment.
Other expected safety equipment includes electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and the newly added 360-degree camera system. Tata has increasingly focused on safety across its portfolio, so additional equipment for the Tiago lineup appears likely.
Petrol Engine Likely Unchanged
Mechanically, the standard Tiago is expected to continue with the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 86 HP and 113 NM of torque. Transmission options will likely include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT automatic transmission.
The factory-fitted CNG version is also expected to continue. In CNG mode, the engine produces 75.5 HP and 96.5 NM. Tata may focus primarily on design, feature and safety upgrades rather than making significant mechanical changes to the combustion-powered Tiago.
Tiago EV Could Receive Larger Battery Packs

The Tiago EV currently comes with two battery pack options: a 19.2-kWh battery delivering a claimed range of 223 KM and a larger 24-kWh pack offering 293 KM of claimed range. Reports suggest Tata could slightly increase battery capacities to improve driving range figures, similar to updates seen on the Punch EV.
The smaller battery version currently produces 61 HP and 110 NM, while the larger pack version generates 75 HP and 114 NM. Tata may also introduce a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option for the Tiago EV to lower the initial purchase price for customers.
Expected Pricing & Rivals
Prices for the updated Tiago and Tiago EV are expected to increase slightly following the facelift. Currently, the petrol-powered Tiago is priced between Rs 4.60 lakh and Rs 7.68 lakh, while the Tiago EV ranges from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 11.14 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tiago EV will continue competing against models such as the MG Comet EV and Citroen eC3. Meanwhile, the standard Tiago will remain one of Tata’s most affordable hatchbacks in the Indian market.
Conclusion
The updated Tata Tiago and Tiago EV bring substantial visual upgrades along with the possibility of improved features and enhanced safety equipment. Tata appears focused on modernising the hatchbacks without drastically altering their core mechanical package. With refreshed styling, a likely safety boost and new technology additions, the facelifted Tiago lineup could help Tata strengthen its position in India’s highly competitive hatchback segment.
