Blacked-Out Exterior Design

The Sierra Dark Edition gets a new Friesian Black exterior finish as standard. Tata has also replaced much of the exterior chrome with black elements. The Tata emblems and alloy wheels receive a darkened treatment as well. Meanwhile, #DARK badges on the front fenders distinguish this version from the standard Sierra.

Dark Interior With Violet Highlights

The black theme continues inside the cabin. Tata has added violet metallic trim to several areas, including the AC vent bezels, door handles, front armrest and front seatbacks. Purple stitching also adds contrast to the cabin. There are no changes to the interior layout or equipment compared with the corresponding standard variants. Depending on the trim, the Sierra can therefore retain features such as a triple-screen setup, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, connected-car technology, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and a 12-speaker JBL Black sound system.

Engine & Gearbox Options

The Sierra Dark Edition retains the same powertrains as the standard variants. The petrol range includes a 106 HP 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT. The 118 HP 1.5-litre diesel comes with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque-converter automatic. The range-topping 160 HP 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine is available exclusively with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic.

Prices In India

The Tata Sierra Dark Edition starts at Rs 13.99 lakh for the Pure L #Dark and extends up to Rs 21.59 lakh for the Accomplished+ #Dark. The Dark Edition costs Rs 20,000 more than the standard Pure L, while the premium rises to Rs 30,000 for the higher trims.

Verdict

The Sierra Dark Edition adds a cosmetic package to Tata’s new SUV without changing its equipment, engines or gearbox options. The Friesian Black exterior, darkened trim and violet interior accents give it a distinct appearance, while the existing feature list remains dependent on the chosen variant. With availability from the Pure L trim and across the Sierra’s petrol and diesel powertrains, buyers can choose the Dark Edition without moving to a specific engine or gearbox combination.
