Tata Motors has officially revealed the Punch EV facelift ahead of its commercial launch scheduled for February 20, 2026. This mid-cycle refresh arrives just two years after the model’s initial debut, aiming to consolidate Tata’s position in the electric micro-SUV segment against new competition like the Hyundai Inster.
Exterior Design Refinements
The facelifted Punch EV adopts a cleaner front-end aesthetic. The most significant change is the removal of the black plastic strip that previously connected the LED headlamp clusters.
- Fascia: The closed-off grille remains, but the bumper has been reshaped with more angular lines and a revised silver-finished scuff plate.
- Lighting: While the split LED setup is retained, the rear is expected to gain connected LED tail lamps, aligning it with the design language of the recently updated petrol-powered Punch.
- Wheels: The vehicle features new aero-optimized 16-inch alloy wheels, designed specifically to reduce drag and improve efficiency.
- Color Palette: A new “Sunlit Yellow” exterior shade with a contrasting black roof has been introduced.
Technical Specifications & Battery Options

The 2026 Punch EV facelift continues to be based on the Acti.ev architecture. While the electric motors remain unchanged.
- Medium Range (MR): Uses a 25 kWh battery pack, producing 82 HP and 114 NM, with a claimed 315 KM MIDC range.
- Long Range (LR): Features a 35 kWh battery pack, delivering 122 HP and 190 NM, with a claimed 421 KM MIDC range.
- Charging: The vehicle supports up to 50 kW DC fast charging and comes with a 7.2 kW AC home charger option.
Interior & Safety Technology

The cabin receives the most substantial hardware upgrades. Inside, the current 10.25-inch screen is expected to be upgraded to a larger 12.3-inch cinematic touchscreen infotainment system, similar to the Nexon EV’s unit.
- Level 2 ADAS: The Punch EV facelift is widely expected to become the first micro-SUV in India to offer Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, with features like Adaptive Cruise Control and Autonomous Emergency Braking likely on higher trims.
- Comfort: Ventilated front seats, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and a wireless phone charger are available in higher trims.
- Ergonomics: The interior gains rear AC vents and extended thigh support for the seats, addressing common feedback regarding rear passenger comfort.
- Safety: Six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto-hold are standard across the range.
Market Positioning & Price Expectation
The Punch EV facelift will compete directly with the Citroen eC3 and starting variants of the MG EV lineup. With an expected price range of ₹10 lakh to ₹15 lakh (ex-showroom), it could command a slight premium over the outgoing model.
The official price announcement on February 20 will determine its competitive standing, especially as its top-spec trims now overlap with the larger Nexon EV’s lower variants on price.
