Tata Motors has introduced the Nexon.ev with Level 2 ADAS at a starting price of ₹17.29 lakh (ex-showroom). It demands a price premium of ₹30,000 over the previous top-end Empowered + 45 variant. This confirms our previous report which stated that the Nexon.ev with Level-2 ADAS would launch soon. The new update makes the Nexon.ev one of the most affordable electric compact SUVs to feature such technology. The ADAS suite is available only on select trims of the Nexon.ev. This expands its appeal to buyers who want a balance of electric driving range, modern features and enhanced safety. This launch also includes new Dark and Red Dark Edition variants, which get a distinctive blacked-out look and interior touches.

What the Level 2 ADAS Package Offers

The ADAS system in the Nexon.ev brings features which aim to improve both safety and convenience. Functions include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and autonomous emergency braking. These systems rely on cameras and sensors that constantly monitor the surroundings to provide assistance in heavy traffic or on highways. With Level 2 capability, the car can assist in steering, acceleration, and braking under specific conditions, though the driver must remain attentive at all times. The inclusion of this package in the Nexon.ev makes advanced technology more accessible in the Indian EV space.

Variants, Pricing & Dark Edition Details

The ADAS package is available in three variants, Empowered +A 45, Empowered +A 45 Dark, and Empowered +A 45 Red Dark, priced at ₹17.29 lakh, ₹17.49 lakh, and ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The Dark Edition features an all-black exterior finish, darker alloy wheels, and interior finishes that separates it from other trims. Tata Motors has also retained the existing equipment list, such as a 12.3 touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, digital driver’s display, 9-speaker JBL sound system and multiple charging options. Though the Nexon EV comes with 30 KWH and 45 KWH battery packs, the ADAS suite is exclusive to the larger battery, which has an ARAI range of 489 KM and a real-world range of 350 KM.

Significance For The EV Market

The introduction of ADAS on the Nexon.ev represents a shift in how electric vehicles are positioned in India. Beyond the focus on driving range and charging infrastructure, carmakers are now emphasizing on advanced technology that enhances safety. For buyers, this means they have wider access to modern driver-assist features. With the Nexon.ev already being one of the top-selling EVs in the country, this update may strengthen its presence further in the segment.
