Tata Motors have introduced a larger battery pack for the Nexon EV, which starts at ₹13.99 lakh and goes up to ₹16.99 lakh. Apart from the bigger battery, the Nexon EV also gets a new ‘Red Dark’ edition priced at ₹17.19 lakh.
The new battery pack has been introduced from the base Creative trim itself, making it ₹60,000 cheaper than even the 40.5 kWh version that starts from the Fearless variant and even the 30 kWh variants will continue to be on sale alongside.

The Battery Pack
The larger 45 kWh battery has an ARAI claimed total range of 489 Km, which is 24 Km more than the 40.5 kWh one. The automaker claim that the real world range is around 350-370 Km. Power and torque remain unchanged at 145 HP and 215 N-m respectively.
The carmaker says that the new cells are 15 percent more energy dense than before but still occupy the same amount of space as the previous unit. The charging time from 10 to 80 percent is 48 minutes, instead of the 56 minutes with the smaller pack. There is a slight increase in weight, but the company is confident that the five star BNCAP crash test certificate that was valid before will also extend to this new version too.
New Features
It gets more features in the higher trims like a panoramic sunroof and a ‘Frunk’ for additional storage. The Nexon EV is only the second compact crossover to get a panoramic sunroof other than the Mahindra XUV 3XO.
Red Dark Edition
Only offered in the top-spec Empowered+ 45 variant for now. Gets gloss black paint with red accents and 16-inch wheels finished in gloss black. The cabin gets more significant updates in the form of red upholstery for the seats, an all black theme for the dashboard with contrast red stitching, a Red Dark specific theme for the infotainment system UI and ‘#Dark’ embroidered on the front seat headrests.
