Tata Motors had recently announced that they will launch the Harrier EV and Petrol by FY25 which means the new variants will enter the Indian market before 31st March 2025.
The petrol Harrier is expected to use Tata’s new 1.5-litre GDi turbo-petrol which produces 168 HP and 280 N-m of torque, it was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. It will be E20 fuel compliant and expected to be offered with a six-speed manual and a six-speed AT.
Even the Harrier EV was showcased in its concept form at the Auto Expo 2023. It is important to note that before the Harrier EV hits the Indian market, Tata will launch the Curvv EV. The Harrier will be the sixth electric vehicle in Tata Motor’s lineup after the Nexon, Tigor, Tiago, Punch and Curvv EVs.
Tata is already testing the prototypes of the Harrier EV on Indian roads. It will get some EV-specific design changes. For instance, the grille to now be closed and the bumpers being slightly different in design, a light bar at the front and a new alloy wheel design that will be more aerodynamic to aid in boosting the range of the vehicle. At the rear, the tail lamps will be the same ones that we have seen on the standard Harrier and a connecting light bar as well.
The interior to remain more or less the same as the standard Harrier. However, there might be some EV-specific changes such as the displays showing EV-related information. There will probably also be Arcade.EV feature available in the infotainment screen and the gear lever to be replaced by a rotary knob like as seen on other Tata EV products.
