Tata Motors has announced its “Open Collaboration 2.0” drive to strengthen India’s charging infrastructure. Tata is partnering with Charging Point Operators (CPO) to install Tata.ev mega charger network.
Since 2023, Tata Motors, CPO’s, and Oil Marketing Companies (OMP) have been setting up EV chargers at key locations, especially along highways. Due to these constant efforts, the number of charging points has more than doubled in a span of 15 months, surpassing 18,000 chargers. The company has also installed 1.5 lac home chargers, 2500 community chargers, and 750 chargers at Tata Dealerships across 200+ cities.
Tata motors aims to make EV’s more accessible by increasing the charging points to 400,000 by the year 2027. Under the new strategy, CPO’s will install 30,000 new public charging points which will support all EV brands.
Tata.ev has also signed an MoU(Memorandum of understanding) with Tata Power, ChargeZone, Statiq, and Zeon to set up 500 Tata.ev mega chargers in 2 years. In the first phase, these superfast chargers will be deployed across key cities and on major highways. The mega chargers will be open to all EV’s but Tata customers will get priority access. Customers will be able to track and pay for the mega chargers via the IRA.ev app.
