It is based on Tata’s new ‘ATLAS‘ platform, which will also underpin future cars and it gets a total of three engine options:

  • An all new 125 HP, 225 N-m, 1.2-litre, three cylinder, direct injection, turbo petrol ‘Hyperion’ engine

And the other two motors are being carried over from the Nexon:

  • A 120 HP, 170 N-m, 1.2-litre, three cylinder, turbo petrol mill
  • And an 118 HP, 260 N-m, 1.5-litre, four cylinder, turbo diesel unit

All come with the option of either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox, making it the only mass market diesel car in India to offer a dual clutch option for now.

Interior

The overall cabin layout, the dashboard design and the centre console are identical to its smaller sibling the Nexon, but with changes like a dual tone burgundy-black theme and the four spoke steering being from the bigger Harrier-Safari twins.

Features And Safety

It has segment first features like the powered tailgate with gesture control and flush door handles, while other details such as the 18-inch alloy wheels, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, reclining rear seat and ventilated front seats are on par with the competition.

The safety suite consists of six airbags, level two ADAS, ESC, all four disc brakes, TPMS, 360-degree cameras, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and a few more items.

Rivals

The Tata Curvv will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Citroën C3 Aircross and directly lock horns with the Citroën Basalt in terms of body style.
