Tata Motors has crossed a key milestone with the Curvv SUV-coupé. Since its launch in August 2024, the model has recorded 50,091 domestic wholesales over 16 months. This figure accounts for about 7 percent of Tata Motors’ total passenger vehicle volumes during the period. Within Tata’s SUV lineup, the Curvv contributed nearly 8.5 percent of total SUV dispatches. Tata first introduced the Curvv in electric form, followed by petrol and diesel variants a month later. Early demand remained strong, especially during the festive season. October 2024 marked the Curvv’s best month, with 5,351 units dispatched. However, volumes fluctuated significantly after that initial peak.

Sales Momentum Weakens In FY2026

After a strong start, demand for the Curvv softened noticeably. Tata sold 34,019 units during the first eight months after launch. In contrast, the following eight months saw volumes drop to 16,072 units. This reflects a decline of just over 50 percent. Average monthly sales also fell sharply. During FY2025, the Curvv averaged more than 4,200 units per month. In FY2026 so far, that figure has reduced to nearly 2,000 units. November 2025 marked the model’s weakest performance to date, with wholesales falling to 1,094 units. The slowdown has affected the Curvv’s overall standing within Tata’s SUV portfolio.

Tata offers the Curvv with a wide range of powertrains. Buyers can choose from petrol, diesel, and electric options. The ICE lineup includes turbo-petrol and diesel engines paired with manual and dual-clutch automatic gearboxes. Prices for ICE variants start at ₹9.66 lakh and go up to ₹18.73 lakh, ex-showroom. The Curvv EV targets the growing electric midsize SUV segment. It starts at ₹17.49 lakh and rivals models such as the Creta Electric and MG ZS EV. Battery options include 45kWh and 55kWh packs, with claimed ranges of 502 KM and 585 KM, respectively. Both ICE and electric versions score highly on safety. The Curvv has secured a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, reinforcing Tata’s strong safety image.

Shift In Portfolio Rankings & Market Position

In FY2025, the Curvv ranked third among Tata’s SUVs. It trailed only the Punch and Nexon. It also outperformed the Harrier and Safari during the same period. The current fiscal year tells a different story. The Curvv now sits fourth in Tata’s SUV lineup. The Nexon, Punch, and Harrier have all moved ahead in terms of volumes. Only the Safari remains behind the Curvv so far. Despite this drop, the Curvv continues to serve as an alternative to popular midsize SUVs. These include models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Volkswagen Taigun. It also competes directly with the Citroen Basalt in the coupe-SUV space.
