At the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo 2025 in New Delhi, Tata Motors unveiled their new Avinya X SUV based on the Avinya concept which was shown earlier to us in 2023, marking a significant step in their premium electric vehicle (EV) journey. Building upon its initial introduction, the new Avinya X showcases Tata’s vision for future mobility, innovation, sustainability, and premium design.
The Avinya X boasts a distinctive design characterized by T-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) that seamlessly integrate into a closed-off front grille and form a T at the front which will denote the new logo for Tata Motors, presenting a futuristic aesthetic. The sleek, sloping roofline enhances its aerodynamic profile which appeals like a coupe, with flush door handles and silver skid plates at both the front and rear. It has large 22-inch four wheels contributing to its commanding presence on the road.
Inside, the Avinya X embraces a minimalist yet sophisticated approach. While specific features remain under wraps, expectations are high for a spacious cabin equipped with advanced features. Anticipated amenities include a large infotainment screen, a digital driver display, automatic climate control, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof. The seats are expected to offer both adjustability and ventilation, ensuring comfort for occupants. Additionally, the inclusion of an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite is anticipated.
The Avinya X is built upon a modified version of Jaguar Land Rover’s Electric Modular Architecture (EMA) platform. While exact battery specifications have not been disclosed, the vehicle is expected to deliver a driving range of at least 550 kilometres on a single charge, catering to the demands of daily commutes and longer journeys alike. Power figures of the car are expected to be around 300 PS for the single-motor version and 400 PS for the dual-motor version and most probably it’ll come in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.
Fast-charging capability is also anticipated, allowing the battery to charge up to 80% in less than 30 minutes. The battery is expected to be around 70-80 KWH.
Tata Motors aims to position the Avinya brand as a premium EV line, differentiating it from its existing range of electric vehicles. The Avinya X is projected to enter the Indian market by 2026, targeting eco-friendly consumers seeking luxury and sustainability
The estimated price will be around ₹30–₹35 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a competitive offering in the luxury EV market. It will compete with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, MG ZS EV (Long-Range Version) and newly shown Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e.
