Tata Motors has launched the Tata Altroz CNG AMT in India at a starting price of Rs 8.70 lakh, ex-showroom. With this update, the Altroz becomes the only premium hatchback in the country to offer a factory-fitted CNG powertrain with an AMT gearbox. Tata is offering the new setup across five variants, giving buyers more flexibility while strengthening the Altroz lineup in the growing CNG segment.

The new CNG AMT range starts from the Pure trim and extends up to the well-equipped Accomplished S variant. Prices go up to Rs 10.77 lakh, ex-showroom. Tata’s latest move focuses on buyers looking for lower running costs along with the convenience of an automatic transmission for daily commuting and city driving conditions.

Tata Altroz CNG AMT Price List

The Tata Altroz CNG AMT is available in five variants. The Pure variant serves as the entry point to the range, while the Accomplished S sits near the top of the lineup with several premium features and added convenience equipment for customers seeking a more feature-rich hatchback experience.

Prices for the Altroz CNG AMT start at Rs 8.70 lakh for the Pure variant. The Pure S costs Rs 9 lakh, while the Creative and Creative S trims are priced at Rs 9.57 lakh and Rs 9.82 lakh respectively. The top-spec Accomplished S variant costs Rs 10.77 lakh, ex-showroom, making it one of the most feature-packed CNG hatchbacks currently available in India.

Engine, Gearbox & Performance Details

Powering the Tata Altroz CNG AMT is the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine used in the standard Altroz lineup. Tata has paired it with a factory-fitted twin-cylinder CNG kit and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. In CNG mode, the engine produces 73.5 HP and 103 NM of torque, while petrol mode increases output to 88 HP and 115 NM.

The AMT gearbox should improve convenience during urban driving, especially in heavy traffic conditions. Tata’s twin-cylinder technology also helps free up additional storage space compared to traditional single-cylinder CNG setups. However, boot capacity still reduces to 210 litres, compared to the 345 litres available in petrol and diesel versions of the Altroz hatchback.

Features & Equipment Highlights

Unlike several rivals that limit CNG options to lower variants, Tata is offering the CNG AMT setup on higher trims as well. This allows buyers to access modern comfort and convenience features while still benefiting from lower fuel costs and improved efficiency through the factory-fitted CNG system.

Top variants of the Tata Altroz CNG AMT include LED headlamps and tail-lamps, a sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless charging and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Tata also offers a 7-inch digital driver display, 16-inch alloy wheels and additional premium touches that help the Altroz remain competitive in the premium hatchback segment.

Rivals & Market Positioning

The Tata Altroz CNG AMT competes with premium hatchbacks such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza. However, Tata currently holds a unique position by offering a factory-fitted CNG setup combined with an AMT gearbox in this segment.

The launch also reflects the increasing demand for practical automatic cars with lower running costs in India. Many customers now prefer fuel-efficient vehicles that also deliver ease of use during everyday commutes, especially in crowded city environments where automatic gearboxes offer added convenience.

With the launch of the Tata Altroz CNG AMT, Tata Motors has expanded the appeal of the Altroz lineup by combining CNG efficiency with the convenience of an AMT gearbox. The hatchback also stands out by offering premium features across multiple variants instead of restricting the CNG option to entry-level trims.

The Altroz CNG AMT could attract buyers looking for a practical and fuel-efficient hatchback without compromising on comfort or equipment. Its unique positioning in the premium hatchback segment may also help Tata strengthen its presence further in India’s growing CNG passenger vehicle market.
