The Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift is set to be unveiled in September 2025, bringing a series of cosmetic updates to the popular SUV. It is expected to borrow elements from the bigger 5-door Thar Roxx. While the overall silhouette remains the same, spy shots suggest revised bumpers, front grille and headlamps with new LED signatures. The side profile will continue to carry the same stance with pronounced wheel arches, though new alloy wheel designs are expected. At the rear, the facelift could bring reworked tail-lamps and minor adjustments to the spare-wheel mount, giving the SUV a fresher look.

Interior & Tech Changes
A major highlight of the facelifted Thar will be its upgraded interior. The cabin is expected to get a new dashboard layout with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Adrenox, a digital instrument cluster, and more premium material choices compared to the outgoing version. Features like wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree camera are likely to be added to higher trims. The facelifted Thar will most likely come with hard-top variants only. Mahindra is also working on providing better storage solutions and possibly new seat upholstery options.

Engine Options
The facelift is unlikely to alter the powertrain choices that the Thar gets. The SUV is expected to continue with the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol, 1.5-litre and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines, paired with both manual and automatic transmission options. Both RWD and 4WD configurations are likely to be retained, keeping a broad audience in focus. However, minor tuning for better refinement, fuel efficiency, or emission compliance could be on the cards. Mahindra may also introduce drive modes to make the SUV adapt to various conditions.

Expected Pricing & Market Position
With these updates, the Thar 3-door facelift will demand a slight premium over the current version. The outgoing model is priced from Rs 11.35 Lakh and onwards ex-showroom, and the facelift could see an increment depending on the trim levels. Positioned as a lifestyle SUV, the Thar will continue to compete with the Force Gurkha and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It has a strong appeal among adventure seekers and city buyers looking for a statement vehicle.
