The Skoda Octavia RS is set to make its return to the Indian market with an official price reveal scheduled for October 17. Bookings for the same will begin on October 6, giving buyers a short window to secure one of the limited units available. The deliveries will commence from November 6, confirming our report of the Octavia RS launching in November. Only 100 units of the Octavia RS will be available for sale, making this a rare opportunity for buyers. The RS 230 and 245 has previously enjoyed a strong following in India thanks to its spirited driving dynamics, and the upcoming launch is likely to generate significant interest.

Powertrain To Be Offered

The 2025 Skoda Octavia RS will arrive in India in its UK-spec form. It will feature the EA888 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 265 HP and 370 NM of torque. This motor gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, sending power to the front wheels. Skoda claims a 0-100 KPH time of 6.4 seconds, with a top speed of 250 KPH. However, DCC is confirmed to be an option on the global RS but is not standard. Given the CBU import nature and cost control, its omission in the India-spec limited edition is highly likely and widely reported. DCC plays a crucial role in enhancing driving dynamics by continuously adjusting suspension damping, steering response, and transmission behaviour. As a result, the absence of DCC in the Indian model may slightly impact the RS’s overall handling.

Key Features & Expectations

True to its RS badge, the Octavia RS sits 15mm lower than the standard model. It features a sporty exhaust system for added performance appeal. It also gets LED Matrix headlights, digital cockpit, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a more aggressive body stance. Inside, it gets bolstered sport seats, a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and other premium touches. The UK-spec version, which is the one coming to India, adds even more equipment. This includes a heads-up display, 360-degree camera, 9 airbags, powered front sport seats with memory, heating and massage functions (powered front sport seats with memory, heating and massage functions are typically part of the high-end Ergo Comfort Seats which are optional on the global RS. It is likely the India-spec model will get them but as an option), and a Canton sound system. However, it misses out on a sunroof. Together, these elements aim to offer a mix of performance and technology.

A Niche Launch

The arrival of the Octavia RS holds significance beyond its limited numbers. It comes at a time when performance sedans are becoming increasingly rare in India. It will be available in a single variant, which retails at £39,965 (about ₹47.70 lakh) in the UK. In India, the model is expected to be priced slightly higher due to its FBU import status. There’s no direct rival for the Octavia RS in India, though the VW Golf GTI has a similar price tag (₹50.91 lakh). With SUVs dominating the market, the RS stands out as an option for those who prefer the driving dynamics of a low-slung sedan. Since only 100 units are up for grabs, competition among buyers will be intense once bookings open.
