Skoda Octavia RS Second Batch Launched In India

Skoda has launched the second batch of the Octavia RS in India at Rs 56.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The latest batch costs Rs 6.70 lakh more than the first batch, which carried a price of Rs 49.99 lakh. Skoda will offer only 50 units this time, while deliveries are scheduled to begin next week.

The first batch was limited to 100 units and sold out before its India launch last year. Therefore, the smaller allocation could make the new Octavia RS a limited-volume performance sedan in the Indian market.

Powertrain & Performance

The Skoda Octavia RS uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine from the Volkswagen Group’s EA888 family. The engine produces 265 PS and 370 NM. It works with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and sends power to the front wheels.

Skoda claims the Octavia RS can accelerate from 0-100 KM/H in 6.4 seconds. Its top speed stands at 250 KM/H, although an electronic limiter controls it. The car also gets progressive steering, sports suspension, an upgraded chassis setup and a sports exhaust as standard.

Exterior Design

The Octavia RS gets several design changes that distinguish it from the standard Octavia. These include Matrix LED headlights, LED tail-lights with dynamic indicators and glossy black exterior elements.

The sedan also gets 19-inch alloy wheels and RS-specific styling details. In addition, the sportier front and black-finished rear treatment give the car a more performance-focused appearance. Buyers can choose from Mamba Green, Velvet Red and Magic Black exterior colours.

Interior & Features

Inside, the Octavia RS combines a sporty cabin with several premium features. It gets sports seats with black upholstery and contrasting red elements. The electrically adjustable front seats also offer memory, heating and massage functions.

The dashboard houses a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also available. Other equipment includes ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, wireless charging and an 11-speaker Canton sound system with a subwoofer.

Space & Practicality

Despite its performance focus, the Octavia RS retains the practical liftback body style. It offers 600 litres of boot space with the rear seats in place. Folding the second row increases the available luggage capacity to 1,555 litres.

The car measures 4,709mm in length, 1,829mm in width and 1,457mm in height. It has a 2,677mm wheelbase. Furthermore, the electrically operated boot adds convenience for everyday use.

Safety Features

The new Octavia RS gets a comprehensive safety package. It includes 10 airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane assist. The car also features intelligent park assist and a 360-degree Area View camera.

Additionally, a head-up display helps keep key driving information within the driver’s view. These features give the Octavia RS a stronger focus on both active safety and driver assistance.

Skoda Octavia RS Prices In India

The second batch of the Skoda Octavia RS costs Rs 56.69 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. This makes it Rs 6.70 lakh more expensive than the first batch. Skoda will limit the second batch to just 50 units, with deliveries starting next week.

Rivals & Positioning

At Rs 56.69 lakh, the Octavia RS occupies a niche position in India’s performance car market. Its combination of a powerful turbo-petrol engine, front-wheel drive layout and practical liftback body gives it a distinct character.

The limited 50-unit allocation also separates the Octavia RS from regular premium sedans. However, its higher price compared with the first batch could influence demand. The latest model will appeal primarily to buyers seeking a performance-focused sedan with everyday practicality.
