Skoda Kylaq Waiting Period Extends To 5 Months

1 min read

The new baby Skoda seems to have struck a chord with Indian buyers. The company has recorded sales of over 5,000 units in the previous month of the Kylaq alone, taking the overall sales figure to 7422 units in March 2025. This is the highest ever monthly figure for Skoda in India since its inception. Acknowledging the positive response towards the Kylaq, the brand also extended the introductory price period until the end of this month to add more traction.

Skoda Kylaq Variant-Wise Waiting Periods

The Kylaq is being offered in 4 trims, namely Classic, Signature, Signature+ and Prestige. The Classic has the longest waiting period, because Skoda has been producing fewer units of the Classic variant. Majority of the production has been prioritised for the higher variants. The mid variants Signature and Signature+ have a waiting period of about 3 months, whereas the top end Prestige has a waiting period of 2 months.

Skoda Kylaq Monthly Sales Target

Skoda is expecting a figure of 8,000 units per month with the new Kylaq by the end of 2025. This figure is expected to help the company reach its target of selling 1,00,000 units annually in our market from the year 2026. The brand also says that it currently has 280 touchpoints across the nation and is planning to expand to 350 touchpoints by August, which will help them to achieve their targets.

Cannibalization Of Other Products In Skoda’s Lineup

The Kylaq as an individual product has been performing exceptionally well. However, it is worth noting that the Kylaq has cannibalised the sales of its elder brother, the Skoda Kushaq. Before the introduction of the Kylaq, the Kushaq used to see sales figures of around 1500-2000 units per month. After the introduction of the Kylaq, the Kushaq now sees sales figures below 1000 units. In fact, the Kushaq found around 897 homes in the month of March 2025, the lowest ever since its launch in 2021. Since the Kylaq and Kushaq have a similar feature set and come powered with the same engine, it is no surprise to see such cannibalizations.
