The Skoda Kushaq has received a comprehensive mid-life update that goes beyond a simple refresh. The Skoda Kushaq Facelift has a new variant structure, a major mechanical update for the 1.0 TSI engine, and the introduction of segment-first features. It is designed to offer a more premium and “tech-loaded” experience.

Here is an in-depth look at every aspect of the new Skoda Kushaq Facelift.

A Reimagined Variant Hierarchy

Skoda has completely abandoned its old ‘Active/Ambition/Style’ naming convention in favor of a new, more descriptive 5-tier lineup. This new structure clearly separates the “Sporty” buyers from the “Comfort” oriented buyers at the top end.

  • Classic+: The new entry point, which is surprisingly well-equipped.
  • Signature: The mid-spec trim where the larger infotainment and connected car tech begin.
  • Sportline: A sportier aesthetic trim sitting below the flagship.
  • Monte Carlo (MC): The definitive “Sport” flagship. It features a Sporty Interior with a Dual Tone Roof and Blacked-Out Exterior Elements.
  • Prestige: The new “Luxury” flagship. In contrast to the Monte Carlo, the Prestige features a Premium Beige Interior and a Front Grille with Chrome Ribs, targeting customers who prefer elegance over aggression.

Powertrain

While the engine blocks for the Skoda Kushaq Facelift are carried over, here are some major changes:

  • 1.0 TSI with 8-Speed Automatic: The biggest mechanical change is the replacement of the old 6-speed torque converter. The 1.0 TSI is now paired with a new 8-Speed Torque Converter Automatic, which Skoda markets as a “Real Automatic Transmission”. This unit is a “First in Segment” feature, promising smoother shifts and better efficiency compared to competitors’ CVTs or AMTs. It can also be paired with a 6-Speed manual
  • 1.5 TSI with 7-Speed DSG: The enthusiast favourite 1.5 TSI engine continues unchanged. It is exclusively mated to the lightning-fast 7-Speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, with no manual option available for this engine.

Braking Hardware:

  • Standard: Front disc brakes and rear drum brakes for 1.0 TSI models.
  • Performance Braking: The 1.5 TSI variants get Disc Brakes on all four wheels for superior stopping power.
  • Visual Flair: If you opt for the Monte Carlo trim, you get exclusive Red Brake Calipers to highlight its sporting intent.

Exterior

Advanced Lighting Package:

  • Illuminated Grille: A new Front Grille Illuminated Light Band connects the headlamps, giving the car a distinct night-time signature. This is available from the Signature variant upwards.
  • Sequential Indicators: The Sequential Rear Turn Indicators, which “sweep” across the taillight, are now standard across all variants, including a feature previously reserved for high-end cars.
  • LED Everywhere: LED Headlamps (with DRLs), LED Taillamps, and even LED Fog-lamps are standard on most trims (Fog-lamps from Classic+ Auto upwards).

Alloy Wheel Designs:

  • 16-inch ‘Grus’: Standard on lower trims.
  • 17-inch ‘Vega’: Available in different finishes, Vega Silver for standard trims and Vega Black for the sportier variants.
  • 17-inch ‘Radim’: Reserved for the top-spec Prestige.

Interior

The cabin has seen the most aggressive updates to compete with feature-rich rivals:

  • Rear Seat Massager: In a move to pamper chauffeur-driven owners, the Prestige and Monte Carlo variants now feature a Rear Seat Massage function.
  • Powered Ventilation: The front seats are not just ventilated but are now 6-way Electrically Adjustable, combining cooling with electric adjustment.
  • The Virtual Cockpit: The driver’s instrument cluster has been upgraded. A 26.03 cm (10.25-inch) Digital Cockpit is found in the Prestige and MC. A slightly smaller 20.32 cm (8-inch) Digital Cockpit is now available in the mid-spec Signature and Sportline, replacing the old analogue dials.
  • Infotainment: The centre console now houses a larger 25.6 cm (10-inch) Touchscreen Infotainment System. It includes a new AI Companion powered by Google, which is context-aware and specifically tuned to recognize Indian English accents.
  • Standard Sunroof: Single-pane electric sunroof for the mid-range variants (Signature, Sportline).
  • Panoramic Sunroof: A massive dual-pane Panoramic Sunroof is finally available, reserved for the top-tier Prestige and Monte Carlo variants.

Safety

Skoda has reinforced its safety credentials, moving away from optional in some variants to now standard in all variants.

Structural & Passive Safety: The car retains its 5-Star Global NCAP rating. Crucially, 6 Airbags are now standard right from the base Classic+ variant.

  • Base Variants: Even the entry-level Classic+ comes with 25+ Active & Passive Safety features.
  • Top Variants: The Prestige and MC has 40+ Safety features.
  • Parking Aids: Front Parking Sensors are now included from the Signature variant upwards, complementing the Rear View Camera and Rear Sensors.
  • Visibility: Rain-Sensing Wipers and an Auto-dimming IRVM (Internal Rear View Mirror) are standard.
