Skoda India has delivered its strongest first half in its 25‑year history, selling 36,194 units between January and June 2025, a 134% increase over the 15,464 units sold in H1  2024

H1 2025 Sales Surge

Skoda’s 36,194‑unit haul breaks its previous record of 28,899 units in H1 2022. Skoda is now among India’s top seven passenger‑vehicle makers, marking a jump of four places from 2024. Half of this success stems from the Kylaq which is a sub‑4‑metre SUV introduced in January 2025.

The Kylaq alone contributed 23,714 units to the tally. The Slavia and Kushaq joined the Kodiaq in supporting the remainder of the sales portfolio.

Kylaq’s Role

Skoda’s first sub‑4‑metre SUV, the Kylaq, clearly made the difference. It was pitched as “an SUV for everyone” and priced between Rs 8.25 Lakh and Rs 13.99 Lakh (ex‑showroom). This low cost of entry has driven growth and attracted many first-time buyers.

The Kylaq strengthened Skoda’s reach into smaller towns. Brand Director Ashish Gupta confirmed that the crossover has enabled progress into deeper markets.

Expansion & Other Launches

In April 2025, Skoda launched the second‑generation Kodiaq, targeting its premium buyer base. This isn’t a volume model. Simultaneously, Skoda is expanding its dealer network from 120 touchpoints in 2021 to over 295 by mid‑2025, aiming for 350 by year‑end. This should help sustain market visibility and after-sales growth.

Conclusion

The sales portfolio remains highly concentrated. The Kylaq drives nearly two-thirds of volumes, the Kushaq, Slavia, and Kodiaq are supplementary, similarly to how most of Hyundai’s sales are driven solely by the Creta. The Kylaq has noticeably cannibalised sales of lower variants of the Kushaq & Slavia as well.
