Mahindra will soon update the Scorpio‑N with new features. The SUV will now offer a panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS, catching it up with Mahindra’s other SUVs and its softer, more urban brother, the XUV700.
New Panoramic Sunroof

Currently, the Scorpio‑N has a single‑pane electric sunroof on its top model. But the new variant is expected to feature a full‑length panoramic sunroof, like the XUV700.

This upgrade can improve cabin ambience by allowing more natural light and giving it an airy, spacious feel. However, this also requires a redesign of the chassis and the roof to maintain structural integrity and safety, which will add weight and cost. Panoramic sunroofs can make the heat worse during Indian summers, though, by letting sunlight shine right into the cabin.
ADAS Functionality Coming

Mahindra intends to integrate the XUV700’s Level 2 ADAS suite into the Scorpio‑N. Expected features include:
- Smart Pilot Assist
- Forward Collision Warning
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Lane Departure & Keep Assist
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Traffic Sign Recognition
- High‑Beam Assist
It is precisely these omissions that got the Scorpio-N a zero-star safety rating in the ANCAP crash tests. Addressing these changes should help the car score better. However, we aren’t sure whether this will be a hardware upgrade or enabled via software. Indian roads are also unpredictable and not the best for autonomous driving.
Powertrain & Variants

The upcoming variant is expected to carry forward the Scorpio‑N’s existing engine lineup, consisting of a 2.0L turbo‑petrol producing 200 BHP and a 2.2‑litre diesel producing 172 BHP mated to either a six‑speed manual or torque‑converter automatic transmission. Four‑wheel‑drive will also remain on offer.
Conclusion

This was a much-needed refresh for the Scorpio-N, which was getting left behind by rivals in terms of features. A panoramic sunroof and ADAS help it remain competitive and safe even in global markets such as Australia, where the car is exported to. The XUV700 has always been the more technologically advanced SUV between the two large Mahindra SUVs, until now where its sibling has finally caught up.
