Renault is set to introduce a turbo-petrol version of the Triber by the end of September 2026. The new powertrain will address one of the MPV’s key drawbacks by offering stronger performance than the existing naturally aspirated engine.
The upcoming Triber will also receive a factory-fitted CNG option. Renault plans to use dual-cylinder technology to improve boot space while offering a more practical alternative for buyers with high running requirements.
Renault Triber Gets 1.0-Litre Turbo-Petrol Engine
The Renault Triber will use the Kiger’s 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. Known internally as the HR10, this unit is derived from Renault’s larger 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine.
In the Kiger and Nissan Magnite, the engine produces 100 HP and up to 160 NM. It offers a 28 HP and 62 NM advantage over the Triber’s existing naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Renault has not confirmed whether the Triber will receive the same state of tune. The company has also not confirmed whether it will offer the CVT automatic with the turbo engine.
Triber Turbo Could Get Manual & Automatic Options
The Kiger currently offers the 1.0-litre turbo engine with a 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox. However, Renault has yet to reveal the transmission choices for the Triber turbo.
The stronger engine should improve acceleration, overtaking & highway performance. It could also make the seven-seat MPV more capable when carrying passengers and luggage.
Renault Triber To Get Factory-Fitted CNG]
Renault will also introduce a factory-fitted CNG version of the Triber. The system will use two CNG cylinders positioned beneath the boot floor to reduce the impact on luggage space.
The CNG version is expected to come with a manual gearbox. Renault will later use the same dual-cylinder CNG technology in the Kiger as part of its wider powertrain strategy.
The Triber currently offers an aftermarket CNG kit for its manual variants. The factory-fitted setup should provide a more integrated solution for customers seeking lower running costs.
Renault Triber Platform Gets Powertrain Updates
The Triber uses Renault’s CMF-A platform, which the company now refers to as RGEP. Renault has modified the platform to accommodate the new powertrain options.
Despite these mechanical changes, the turbo-petrol version is expected to retain the practicality of the existing Triber. The MPV should continue offering its flexible seating layout and family-oriented cabin.
Prices In India
The Renault Triber currently ranges from around Rs 5.81 lakh to Rs 8.53 lakh, ex-showroom. Renault is expected to charge a premium for the new turbo-petrol and factory-fitted CNG versions.
The company has not announced the prices of the upcoming variants yet. Final pricing will depend on the engine, transmission & variant combinations offered at launch.
