Recent spy shots indicate that the 2026 facelift of the Tata Punch has entered an advanced testing phase, with the test mule appearing far closer to production specification than earlier prototypes. Spy shots have spotted the compact SUV with heavy camouflage, yet the fit and finish suggest that Tata has already finalized the body panels and lighting elements. This aligns with Tata’s usual development cycle, where near-production vehicles surface a few months before launch. Tata will introduce the facelift in 2026, marking the Punch’s first major visual update since launch, apart from minor variant reshuffles in 2024.

Sharper Exterior With EV-Inspired Cues

The most visible changes appear at the front, where the Punch facelift adopts a redesigned bumper and a revised grille featuring horizontal elements. Slimmer LED daytime running lamps and new LED headlamps closely resemble those seen on the Punch EV. Spy images also hint at new alloy wheel designs on higher variants. Meanwhile, the upright stance, short overhangs, and chunky body cladding remain unchanged. Earlier sightings suggest mild updates at the rear as well, including tweaked LED tail-lamps and a revised bumper with skid plate detailing.

Cabin Updates & Feature Additions Likely

Although the interior has not been fully revealed, test sightings point to meaningful upgrades inside the cabin. The facelifted Punch is expected to feature a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, similar to other recent Tata updates. Higher trims may receive a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster, possibly borrowed from the Altroz facelift or Punch EV. Feature additions could include a 360-degree camera system, front seat ventilation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, and a voice-assisted sunroof, all aimed at improving cabin experience.

Outgoing Punch

Mechanically, the 2026 Punch facelift will likely retain its existing engine options. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will continue to produce around 87 HP and 115 NM. The CNG version will continue too, with outputs of roughly 72 HP and 103 NM. Gearbox choices should remain unchanged, with a 5-speed manual for petrol and CNG and a 5-speed AMT for petrol variants. On the safety front, Tata is likely to standardise six airbags across the range. This will complement existing features like ABS with EBD, TPMS, ISOFIX mounts, and a rear camera. Prices will likely rise by around ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 over current trims, with a starting point close to ₹6 lakh. The updated Punch will continue to compete with models such as the Hyundai Exter, Maruti Ignis, and Citroen C3.
