Porsche Taycan RWD Launched

Porsche has officially introduced the 2025 Taycan RWD in India, expanding its electric vehicle lineup with a more affordable option. This new variant comes with just a single motor mounted to the rear axle, unlike other more expensive variants that come with all-wheel drive.

Performance

The Taycan RWD features a single rear-mounted electric motor that generates 408 BHP and 410 Nm of torque. This allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, reaching a top speed of 230 km/h. Equipped with an 89 kWh battery pack, it claims a range of up to 590 kilometres on a single charge. The car supports fast charging up to 320 kW, charging the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 18 minutes as per Porsche’s claims. All Taycan models also have a two-speed direct-drive transmission that plays a pivotal role in the Taycan’s rapid acceleration and excellent range. An air-spring suspension system is standard. Porsche’s optional Active Ride option is also available to those who want adaptive dampers. It’s built on the J1 electric platform which it shares with the Audi e-Tron GT.

Design

The Taycan RWD comes with standard design updates introduced last year, including HD-Matrix LED headlamps, revised bumpers, and aerodynamic alloy wheels that improve efficiency. Inside, it comes with features such as a 16.8-inch digital driver display, a 10.9-inch infotainment screen, and luxurious seating with 14-way power adjustment for front seats.

Pricing & Positioning

Porsche aims to encash its premium brand perception in the Indian electric vehicle market. The Porsche Taycan has no real competitors except its own sister Audi RS e-Tron GT. It offers slightly less range compared to its all-wheel-drive counterparts but retains Porsche’s signature driving dynamics and premium quality. Priced at ₹1.67 crore (ex-showroom), the rear-wheel-drive variant is positioned below the Taycan 4S and Turbo models that offer more power & all-wheel drive with multiple motors. The Taycan’s low-slung driving position, talkative steering, and precise handling make it special among electric vehicles.
