Nissan has confirmed that its new compact MPV will debut in India on December 18. This model will be the brand’s third offering currently after the Magnite and X-Trail. It will sit in the sub 4 metre segment and target budget focused family buyers. The MPV will share its CMF-A platform with the Renault Triber, making it a close sibling in terms of size and structure. Nissan filed a trademark for the name Gravite in 2023, though the final name has not been officially confirmed. With this launch, Nissan aims to strengthen its presence in a segment that values space, flexibility, and low ownership costs.
Familiar Shape With Nissan Specific Styling

Spy images and teaser visuals suggest that the MPV will retain the Triber’s tall and boxy silhouette. However, Nissan has made visible changes to give it a distinct identity. The front end is expected to feature a larger grille inspired by Nissan’s global design language, along with revised bumpers and silver accents. The headlamp shape appears similar to the Triber’s, though the lighting signature may differ. At the rear, Nissan is likely to introduce tweaked tail lamps and a new bumper design. Alloy wheels could also get a unique pattern. Despite these changes, the bonnet, roof rails, and overall proportions remain close to the Triber.
Interior Layout & Feature Set

The cabin has not been revealed yet, but expectations point to a layout similar to the Triber. This means a flexible three row setup with removable third row seats. Nissan is likely to use its own interior colour scheme and trim finishes to differentiate the MPV. Expected features include a 7-inch semi digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity. Other likely additions are push button start, wireless phone charging, and manual air conditioning with rear vents. Safety equipment could include six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring, and a rear view camera. These features would align closely with the Triber’s offering.
Engine Options & Expected Pricing

The upcoming Nissan MPV will likely borrow the same 1.0-litre NA petrol engine used in the Triber. This unit produces around 72 HP and 96 NM of torque in the Triber. Transmission options should include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. A turbo petrol engine is unlikely at launch, though a CNG option could be introduced later as a dealer fitted solution. Pricing will likely mirror the Triber closely, which currently ranges from ₹5.76 lakh to ₹8.60 lakh ex-showroom. With similar pricing, the Nissan MPV’s main rival will be the Renault Triber itself, while also offering an alternative choice within the same alliance.
