Nissan India is all set to return to the midsize SUV segment with the upcoming Nissan Tekton, which will make its official debut on July 9, 2026. The SUV marks Nissan’s comeback to the segment after the discontinuation of the Kicks in 2023.
The Tekton will essentially be Nissan’s version of the new Renault Duster, although it receives major styling differences and a more premium design approach inspired by the flagship Nissan Patrol.
Exterior Design Inspired By The Nissan Patrol

The new Tekton gets a bold front-end design that clearly takes inspiration from the Patrol SUV. It features sleek LED headlamps, connected LED DRLs and a large grille with dual chrome strips for a more upscale appearance.
The bumper receives a dual-tone finish, while the overall stance looks muscular thanks to pronounced wheel arches and large alloy wheels. Although the side profile remains similar to the Duster, Nissan will offer unique 18-inch alloy wheel designs to help differentiate the SUV further.
At the rear, the Tekton gets connected LED tail-lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler and a cleaner single-tone tailgate design unlike the two-tone finish seen on the Duster.
Cabin Expected To Get Premium Features

Inside, the Tekton is expected to feature a cabin layout different from the Duster, although the equipment list could remain largely similar. Nissan is likely to focus on a more premium interior theme with revised trims and upholstery options.
Expected features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, dual-zone climate control and powered ventilated front seats.
Safety equipment could include a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS features, helping the Tekton compete strongly in the crowded midsize SUV segment.
Engine Options Likely To Be Shared With The Duster
The Tekton is expected to borrow its engine lineup from the Renault Duster. This includes a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 100 HP and 166 NM, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Higher variants are likely to use the more powerful 1.3-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine producing 163 HP and 280 NM. This engine is expected to be available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
There is also a possibility that Nissan could introduce the Duster’s strong-hybrid setup later, which combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine with an e-CVT transmission.
Expected Price & Rivals
The Nissan Tekton is expected to be priced close to the Renault Duster, which currently ranges between AED-equivalent pricing of around Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 18.49 lakh in India.
Once launched, the Tekton will compete against popular midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate and MG Astor.
Conclusion

The Nissan Tekton could become an important product for Nissan India as the brand looks to strengthen its presence in the competitive midsize SUV segment. With bold styling, modern features and multiple turbo-petrol engine options, the Tekton appears well-positioned to attract buyers looking for an alternative to the Creta and Seltos. Its official debut on July 9 will reveal whether Nissan has done enough to stand out in one of India’s most crowded SUV categories.
