Fresh images of the Nissan Tekton spied Pune give us one of the clearest looks yet at the upcoming mid-size SUV ahead of its India launch. The latest test mule was spotted near the ARAI facility in Pimpri, suggesting the vehicle is likely undergoing homologation tests before entering production.
Unlike earlier sightings that showed heavily camouflaged prototypes, these new images appear to show what could be the base variant of the Tekton. That matters, because entry-level trims often reveal how manufacturers plan to position a car on pricing and features.
Proportions: Clear As Day
Even with camouflage still covering the body panels, the Tekton’s proportions are hard to miss. Spotted next to a Maruti Baleno in the spy shots, the SUV appears noticeably taller and broader, hinting at dimensions similar to the new Renault Duster. For reference, the new Duster measures about 4,345 MM in length with a 2,657 MM wheelbase, and the Tekton is expected to sit in roughly the same bracket.
That puts it squarely in the heart of India’s most competitive SUV segment, the same territory dominated by the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
From a visual standpoint, the Tekton doesn’t look like a compact crossover trying to appear bigger. It looks like a proper mid-size “SUV”.
Side Profile

The side profile offers some of the clearest clues about Nissan’s design direction.
- Squared wheel arches
- C-pillar mounted rear door handles
- Curved roofline that slightly softens the otherwise upright proportions
- Steel wheels on the test mule, confirming this is likely a lower-trim variant
The steel wheels are particularly interesting. Manufacturers typically test base trims during homologation, which suggests Nissan is already validating the full variant lineup before launch.
Rear

- C-shaped LED tail lamps in a connected layout
- Large roof-mounted spoiler
- Raked rear windshield
- Chunky rear bumper with pronounced cladding
Another detail spotted in earlier development images is large “TEKTON” lettering on the tailgate, hinting that Nissan intends to make the model name a strong visual identity point similar to the Duster.
What We Can’t See
Interestingly, the spy shots do not reveal the front fascia.
That means several key design elements remain hidden, particularly the grille and lighting signature. However, previous development information suggests the Tekton will feature:
- Slim LED headlamps
- Top-mounted DRLs with a full-width light bar
- Rectangular grille with Nissan badge
If those details make it to production, the Tekton could end up looking quite distinct from its Renault sibling.
