The Nissan GT-R, affectionately dubbed “Godzilla” by enthusiasts, has long been a symbol of raw performance and Japanese engineering prowess. After a storied 18-year run, the R35-generation GT-R officially ceased production in 2024, with Nissan closing its order books in Japan by March 2025. However, recent developments have reignited excitement among car enthusiasts worldwide. Good news is here, though; the Nissan GT-R will be making a comeback in the not-so-distant future.
The GT-R’s Legacy
The R-35 was introduced in 2007, making it one of the longest series production supercars to exist. The car was so ahead of its rivals, it never felt outdated. However, after years, rivals eventually caught up, making the Nissan feel obsolete. When production was stopped, fans were left wondering about the nameplate’s future, while Nissan lost its halo product. The GT-R is a legendary vehicle, oftentimes called the crowning jewel of the Japanese automobile industry and universally loved and adored. Nissan’s next CEO, Ivan Espinosa, has confirmed that the iconic brand will be revived very soon, to the delight of enthusiasts globally.
Powertrain & Technical Information
Nissan has been aiming for an all electric lineup with its upcoming launches, with the upcoming CEO previously elaborating about the advantages of EV drivetrains in terms of corner exit acceleration and control. The Hyper Force concept further hints at the possibility of an all-electric GT-R. The Hyper Force concept came with a power output of 1340 BHP from a dual motor setup.
Launch & Future
We don’t really know much about the new GT-R, but we sure are happy this iconic nameplate is not being ditched. We eagerly await further information from Nissan on their best product’s future, hopefully in the near future.
