Citroen has officially introduced the latest generation of the C5 Aircross, and this update brings so many noticeable changes inside and out which including a change in design and comfort. Based on the new STLA Medium platform from Stellantis, the SUV now offers more variety under the hood, including hybrid and all-electric options—something we’re seeing for the first time on this model.
Exterior

The design of the 2025 C5 Aircross stays close to the concept that was shown earlier at the Munich Motor Show, with a mix of smooth curves and bold lines. At the front, it gets slim LED headlights and a cleaner, two-tone bumper. The grille is mostly closed, especially on the electric version, helping with aerodynamics.
From the side, the SUV continues with a boxy shape but now includes new alloy wheels and updated cladding around the wheel arches. The door handles are back to a more practical pull-type design. At the rear, the 3D-effect C-shaped tail-lamps stand out, and the bumper now has both gloss and matte elements.
Overall, the SUV looks more refined than before but still familiar. The new model is longer than the outgoing version, measuring 4,652mm, with a 600mm longer wheelbase. This added length has gone into increasing rear space, especially legroom and headroom.
Interior

Inside, the new C5 Aircross features a complete redesign. According to Citroen dashboard is inspired by home furniture, with soft-touch fabric and a large, vertical touchscreen in the centre, and the best part is that Physical buttons haven’t been removed completely, and key functions like climate control are still easy to access.
The SUV gets a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and an optional head-up display. Rear passengers benefit the most from the added space, with more room to stretch and new comfort-focused features like reclining seatbacks and extra USB-C ports. The front seats have also been updated in such a way as to provide more comfort.
Ambient lighting, a wireless phone charger, and a new infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are expected to be standard on higher trims. Some versions will also feature ChatGPT integration for voice control and navigation
Powertrain

The new C5 Aircross will be offered with three powertrain options. First is a mild-hybrid version that uses a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 136 BHP, paired with a 12 BHP electric motor and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This setup is designed to improve fuel efficiency and lower emissions with the help of a small 0.9 kWh battery.
Next is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), which combines a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with a 125 BHP electric motor, delivering a total output of 195 BHP. It offers around 85 km of electric-only range, thanks to a 21 kWh battery.
For those looking to go fully electric, Citroën will offer two EV versions. One features a 213 BHP front-mounted motor with a 73 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 520 km. The second gets a more powerful 233 BHP motor with a 97 kWh battery, which can travel up to 680 km on a full charge (WLTP cycle).
Launch
Citroen is expected to start delivering the new C5 Aircross in European markets sometime in the second half of 2025. For buyers over there, it won’t be too long before the SUV hits the showrooms. As for India, the current-gen C5 Aircross is still available and continues to be sold as a CKD unit.
However, there’s been no official confirmation from Citroen yet about when or if this new generation model will make its way here. Given the growing interest in electric and hybrid vehicles in India, it wouldn’t be surprising if Citroen decides to bring it eventually, but for now, it’s just a waiting game.
