New Lexus ES Revealed Globally

1 min read

The Lexus ES is a midsize luxury sedan known for its smooth ride, comfortable interior, and reputation for reliability. The ES was designed to offer a quiet and refined driving experience, and thus it blends upscale features with practical everyday performance. It attracted customers who wanted a premium yet approachable vehicle. This new generation of the Lexus ES is here, boosting all of those factors and more.

Design

The new Lexus ES is longer, wider, and even taller than the outgoing model. The entire exterior design has been refreshed completely and is rather unrecognisable as a Lexus ES. The front design’s main focus is on the new DRLs and the headlamp assembly that has been completely separated. The turn indicator is not integrated into the DRL itself but has its own assembly. Many of the design elements are inspired by the LF-ZC concept.

The new design even strangely resembles the Toyota Crown from 2024, and this vehicle now has even more ground clearance, just like the Toyota Crown. The rear has been completely redesigned, with a brand new integrated light bar at the rear and an aggressive rear bumper design that may not appeal to everyone. It also gets L-shaped lights that serve as indicators, just like the front.

Visually, the electric ES stands apart from the hybrid mainly with its closed-off front-end nose, while the hybrid version features a slim grille. The profile section is full of aerodynamic lines, and the doors feature electrically operated handles. The refreshed alloy wheels in dual-tone will be offered with tyre sizes from 18 to 21 inches, depending on the market. Allover, this new design certainly may be more aerodynamic but may not appeal to everyone.

Interior

The new ES’s interior is much simpler & looks more like a Tesla. It gets a bigger 14-inch touch screen, but its new minimalist dashboard design is a complete departure from the outgoing model. The gauge cluster has been upgraded to a 12.3-inch display as well. Other features such as a Mark Levinson premium sound system as well. This new model has almost no physical buttons.

Powertrain

The hybrid ES 300h that’s coming to the global market uses a familiar ‘self-charging’ petrol-electric arrangement that produces either 200 BHP or 245 BHP and comes with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The new electric ES, meanwhile, can be had with a 222 BHP motor driving the front wheels (ES 350e), or a dual-motor 340 BHP all-wheel drive setup (ES 500e).

Verdict

The new Lexus ES has the potential to be a great premium sedan, but it has big boots to fill, especially in the Indian market. The outgoing ES had a great reputation for great build quality and robust reliability. The pricing of this new ES hasn’t been announced in India yet.
