Introduction
Lotus Cars has revealed the new Lotus Emira 420 Sport as the most powerful and lightest Emira yet. Based on the Emira Turbo, the new variant receives performance-focused upgrades aimed at improving both road and track driving. Lotus has also introduced a removable glass roof panel for the Emira range for the first time.
The Emira 420 Sport combines increased power, aerodynamic revisions and lower weight while continuing Lotus’ focus on lightweight sports cars.
Exterior Design

The Emira 420 Sport receives several visual and aerodynamic upgrades over the standard Emira. At the front, the sports car gets a larger splitter, revised air vents and bigger air intakes to improve airflow and cooling efficiency.
Along the sides, Lotus has added redesigned side sills and optional carbon-fibre trim elements. The rear section features a revised lip spoiler, louvred tailgate and updated diffuser area. Lotus claims the aerodynamic changes improve downforce and cooling performance during spirited driving.
Interior Design

Inside, the Emira 420 Sport gets 12-way electrically adjustable seats and carbon-fibre gearshift paddles. Lotus also offers optional Carbon Fibre and Hand Painted interior packages for buyers looking for additional customisation.
The Carbon Fibre Pack adds lightweight trim around the instrument display, steering wheel and seatback surrounds. Meanwhile, the Hand Painted Pack introduces Tangelo Orange accents across the cabin. Lotus has also added a removable tinted glass roof panel inspired by the classic Lotus Esprit.
Powertrain
The Emira 420 Sport uses a Mercedes-AMG-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 420 HP and 500 NM. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Lotus claims a 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 299 KM/H. Buyers can also opt for the Lightweight Handling Pack, which reduces weight by 25 KG through carbon-fibre parts, a titanium exhaust and lighter suspension components.
Prices & Rivals
Lotus has not announced official India pricing for the Emira 420 Sport yet. If launched in India, the sports car is expected to arrive as a fully imported model with an estimated price between Rs 1.75 crore and Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom).
The Emira 420 Sport will rival performance-focused sports cars like the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS and select variants of the Chevrolet Corvette in global markets.
Conclusion

The Lotus Emira 420 Sport introduces meaningful mechanical and aerodynamic upgrades over the standard Emira Turbo. With increased power, lower weight and improved cooling systems, the model targets buyers looking for a sharper driving experience.
The addition of a removable roof panel and expanded personalisation options further broadens the appeal of the Emira range. The 420 Sport now stands as the highest-performance version of Lotus’ mid-engine sports car lineup.
