JSW MG Motor India has confirmed that it will increase car prices by up to 2 percent across its entire range starting January 1, 2026. The revision will apply to all models on sale, with the exact increase varying by model and variant. MG has attributed the decision to rising input costs and broader macroeconomic pressures that have affected operating expenses through 2025. The company is expected to announce model-wise and variant-wise revised prices closer to the effective date. This adjustment follows a similar trend seen across the auto industry, where manufacturers typically review pricing at the start of a new calendar year.
Expected Impact On Popular MG Models

While final prices are yet to be released, estimates provide a clear picture of how the hike could affect buyers. MG’s Windsor EV could see an increase of roughly ₹20,000 to ₹37,000, which would push its ex-showroom price range to about ₹10.19 lakh to ₹18.76 lakh, depending on variant and current scheme. Similarly, the Comet EV may become costlier by around ₹10,000 to ₹20,000, taking its expected price band to approximately ₹7.64 lakh to ₹10.19 lakh. These figures highlight how a percentage hike translates into different absolute increases depending on the vehicle’s base price.
Timing Of The Hike & Recent Product Updates

The price increase comes soon after MG introduced the facelifted Hector. The model received minor exterior revisions, new interior colour themes, updated alloy wheels, and feature additions such as a 14-inch touchscreen with swipe gestures. The updated Hector range currently starts at ₹11.99 lakh ex-showroom, with higher variants and the Hector Plus positioned above this, and full variant-wise prices set to be rationalised with the 2026 revisions. The company will announce prices for diesel variants and certain seating configurations in 2026. MG’s move mirrors similar announcements by other manufacturers, including luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz. This highlights that cost pressures remain an industry-wide challenge going into 2026.
