MG Motor is preparing to introduce the M9 EV, a new all-electric MPV, in the Indian market. The model is expected to be positioned as a larger alternative in the electric vehicle segment, with a focus on space and utility.
Dimensions & Interior Layout

The MG M9 is expected to be available in three trim levels: base, comfort, and premium. The MPV measures approximately 5,200 MM in length, placing it above the size of most mid-size MPVs currently on sale in India. Its wheelbase of around 3,200 MM is expected to provide more room for passengers, especially in the second and third rows.
Inside, the M9 is likely to come with fabric or synthetic leather upholstery depending on the variant, along with foldable seating and multiple charging points. With the third-row seats folded flat, the vehicle is expected to offer around 945 litres of cargo space and there is 55 litres frunk too. These characteristics suggest the M9 is being designed for both urban commutes and longer trips.
Battery & Driving Range

The M9 will use a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack with a capacity of about 90 KWH. It is expected to be paired with a single electric motor generating roughly 245 horsepower and 350 NM of torque.
Initial figures suggest an MIDC-rated range of up to 548 KM, though real-world usage is likely to bring that down, depending on driving conditions. The M9 will support both AC and DC charging. The 160 KW DC fast charger charges the M9 in 90 minutes and 11 KW AC fast charging speeds would be 0-100% in around 10 hours.
Technology & Safety Equipment

Standard equipment across all variants is expected to include LED lighting and a connected car system. Mid and higher variants feature a panoramic sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment unit, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and a 360-degree camera.
Safety features will include 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, TPMS, four disk brakes, emergency brake assist, Isofix child seats and parking sensors as standard. Top-end versions are likely to offer a Level 2 ADAS and include driver assistance technologies such as lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. While the car brand has not yet disclosed the BNCAP safety rating for the M9, it is backed by full 5-star ratings in both Euro & Asian crash tests.
The M9 is expected to be offered in five exterior colour options: white, grey, blue, silver, and black. The interior will likely feature dual-tone finishes across most variants.
Expected Price Range

While pricing details are yet to be officially announced, estimates suggest the M9 could be priced between ₹60 lakh and ₹70 lakh (ex-showroom). This would place it in a higher price bracket compared to compact electric SUVs and crossovers, targeting a more niche segment of buyers looking for larger electric vehicles with multiple seating rows.
Market Position
The M9 will likely compete in a segment that currently has limited electric MPV options. Its market performance will depend on factors like pricing, feature spread, charging infrastructure, and competition at launch.
