MG has officially unveiled the Cyberster EV in India at an introductory ex‑showroom price of ₹74.99 Lakh, dropping to ₹72.49 Lakh for early bookers. As the country’s most affordable electric roadster, it arrives as a single, fully loaded variant via MG’s premium “MG Select” outlets, the brand’s second India debut after the M9. With scissor doors, dual motors, and a sprint to 100 KM/H in just 3.2 seconds, the Cyberster stakes a bold claim in the EV performance landscape, without breaking the ₹1 crore barrier.
Exterior Design

The design is unmistakably dramatic. At the front, petal-shaped LED projector headlights and arrow‑styled DRLs flank a minimalist chrome MG badge. Cooling vents in the lower bumper hint at the performance beneath. The silhouette is defined by scissor doors, a rarity in India at this price point, which swing upward in true roadster style. 20-inch dual‑tone alloy wheels and body‑coloured ORVMs with integrated indicators complete the sculpted look. Offered in four dual‑tone paint schemes, Flare Red/Black, Nuclear Yellow/Black, Modern Beige/Red, and Andes Grey/Red, the Cyberster writes theatrical design into its DNA.
Interior Design

Step inside, and the Cyberster feels like a cockpit straight out of a concept. A tri-screen setup encompasses a 7-inch driver display, a 10.25-inch central instrumentation screen, and a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, complemented by a fourth panel for AC controls. The flat-bottom steering wheel integrates controls, paddle shifters to adjust regenerative braking, and a distinctive red rotary dial for launch control. Two ergonomically sculpted sports seats, with 6-way electric adjustment, heating & memory function.
Features & Safety: Loaded Standard Kit

MG has equipped the Cyberster with a generous suite of tech and convenience features:
- 8-speaker Bose sound system
- Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, USB‑C charging
- Wireless phone charging and ambient lighting
- Keyless entry and start, plus OTA update capability
Safety equipment:
- 4 airbags, ESC, TPMS
- Level‑2 ADAS Suite: adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward collision mitigation, and emergency braking
For a car below ₹1 crore, the inclusion of launch control, techy cabin design, and advanced driver assist functions stands out.
Powertrain & Performance

Under the sculpted sheet metal lies a 77 kWh battery pack powering dual electric motors (one on each axle) for full AWD control. Performance figures are compelling:
- Power output: 510 PS (503 HP)
- Torque: 725 NM
- 0–100 KM/H: 3.2 seconds
- Top speed: 200 KM/H (electronically limited)
- Claimed range: 580 KM (MIDC cycle)

This Supercar-grade acceleration places the Cyberster among India’s fastest cars, irrespective of the drivetrain. The AWD layout provides cohesion during launch, and the high torque figure ensures compelling mid-range responsiveness across speeds. The Top speed could have been higher and not electronically limited, at least up to 250 KM/H like the BMW M340i offers.
Ride & Handling

While MG has not officially published suspension geometries, insiders confirm the Cyberster rides on independent adaptive dampers at all four wheels and a low‑slung chassis layout. It’s near 50:50 weight distribution, courtesy of central battery placement, delivers balanced handling and crisp turn-in.
Charging & Usability
The Cyberster supports CCS2 fast charging, enabling a 10–80 % recharge in approximately 35–40 minutes on a 150 kW DC fast charger. AC recharging is also supported, offering practical overnight charging via standard home wall boxes. MG does not offer a battery rental (BaaS) plan for this, meaning buyers own the full battery pack outright. The claimed 580 KM MIDC range is best-case, real-world conditions should yield closer to 400–450 KM under mixed driving conditions.
Beyond its two-seat format, the Cyberster includes a modest frunk and a rear storage area, offering weekend-trip practicality in a compact package.
Market Position & Rivals
Priced at ₹74.99 Lakh (₹72.49 Lakh for early bookers), the Cyberster undercuts the BMW Z4 M40i (₹96.5 lakh) and vastly undercuts a Porsche 718 Boxster (₹1.5 Crore+). Compared to its rivals:
- Delivers quicker 0–100 km/h acceleration (3.2s vs 4.5s)
- Offers AWD and launch control as standard
- Is the most visually distinctive and tech-packed convertible under ₹1 crore
Yet, the Cyberster simply cannot offer the ICE goodness that the Porsche or the BMW offer, although most Cyberster buyers may not consider this factor.
Verdict

The MG Cyberster EV may be a niche product, but it accomplishes that niche with authority. It takes the drama of exotic roadster styling and combines it with EV acceleration that surpasses many more expensive rivals. All that while staying under ₹1 crore.
But, for a seriously enthusiastic customer, the Cyberster may not be the right choice, due to the sole reason being that the Roadster is an EV. The enthusiastic customer might enjoy more in the BMW M340I or the Z4, regardless of spending more on these ICE vehicles.
